If the $700 billion dollar bailout is implemented , we must DEMAND that the root causes of this disaster be mitigated to prevent a repeat of the problem in the future.

If the cascading domino collapse is not interrupted, with a combination of selective "rescues" ,PLUS enactment and ENFORCEMENT of preventive reforms, a deflationary greater depression is likely right at our doorstep, with global deflationary follow-on downdraft.
If the reforms are implemented,along with VERY SELECTIVE rescues, then an inflationary outcome is probable. At least the inflationary outcome can be "hedged" to some degree with investments in food,(General Mills, for example), consumer staples,( Proctor and Gamble, for example), commodities, precious metals mining companies,and health care products producers (such as Johnson and Johnson ,for example).
The "overnight deflationary option" will be very punishing to all but a few "high roller" players who can place large bets,( with high degree of risk of losing it all), on short positions and put options. Cash can provide some protection for the little guy/gal, but not much.
Think it over folks, then contact your congressional representatives. It all hangs in the balance now.
