When not in use, the entire lid should be down. The lid should be lowered PRIOR to flushing. Upon flushing the particles can travel up to 6 feet. Lowering the lid prevents this.
It isn't about men vs. women. It is about sanitation.

Never in my wildest dreams, when the end of the world was at hand, would I think I would be responding to a thread about the position of a toilet seat.....however, even though this might be the end of the (system) world as we know it, when the world rises again like the phoenix satan is, I hope that the new world will promote the closure of the toilet seat for the good of humanity.
