The Tekiah: the "blast," the call to attention.
The Shevarim: a "broken," The "Shevarim" is, as its root, "shin-bet-resh," "to break," implies, a sound of brokenness. It is a sigh, a sound of despair.
The Teruah: the "alarm," Kesseh," the Hidden One, the sound concealed within two "Tekiot;" namely, the "Teruah."
The Tekiah Gedolah: "the great Tekiah" We acknowledge the departure of the "Shekhina," the Divine Presence, with a "Tekiah Gedolah!" a Great "Tekiah," a long straight blast of the Shofar.
I would study up on the significance of this 10 day period and it's biblical implications.
