In broad daylight? From thousands of miles away? Not likely. Maybe someone else here knows how fast a small (1 or 2km size) would come in but I bet it´s pretty damn fast.

The weather radars over the area showed a lot of cloud cover too as it´s the rainy season in that part of the world so I doubt anyone would have seen a smoke trail either. Do meteors and astroids leave smoke trails?
