>>> I saw this on another thread and got to thinking about it....how come all the reports are about tsunami damage and no one´s talking about the earthquake? I can´t remember one story about anyone feeling it or describing it. Here ya go: "Speaking calmly but with exhaustion heavy in her brown eyes, 31-year-old Epayani described Thursday how her city just 60 miles from the epicenter of Sunday´s undersea quake suffered a terrible one-two punch of shaking ground and surging waves, losing perhaps half of its 40,000 residents. "There was an earthquake. Then the earthquake stopped and all of a sudden the water came," recalled Epayani, who uses a single name. She put her right hand on her chest and continued: "I heard the sound of the wave. It was very loud. Imagine hearing the sound of a volcano erupting." The ocean, 200 yards away, was rapidly closing in." - [ link to www.washingtonpost.com] Odds are most of the people who were close enough to experience the earthquake are either dead or not in a position to communicate. The people in India and Sri Lanka were thousands of miles away, too far away to feel the earthquake.
