Stomach Virus Sickens at Least 78 USC Students

LOS ANGELES -- At least 30 USC students have been hospitalized with a sudden intestinal virus, according to university health officials.

They describe the illness as a highly-contagious stomach virus, that is not serious, but can cause vomiting, diarrhea and cramps.

The outbreak seems to have been centered on a cluster of dormitories on USC's campus.

"We don't think it's a food borne illness," university spokesman James Grant said. "It looks like it's a human-contact virus, a stomach flu."
