Several radio stations worldwide transmit precise time signals2. However, only a few provide voice announcements indicating the current UTC. NIST continuously broadcasts time signals with voice announcements over shortwave radio from stations WWV in Fort Collins, Colorado and WWVH in Kauai, Hawaii. Both stations transmit on 2.500, 5.000, 10.000, and 15.000 MHz. WWV also operates on 20.000 MHz.
Canada's Institute for National Measurement transmits time signals and voice announcements over radio station CHU in Ottawa, Ontario. CHU broadcasts continuously on 3.330, 7.335, and 14.670 MHz. |

+10000 on the "live coverage" question.
Anyone find anything out there on live coverage? You KNOW that someone in the astronomical community will be covering this. Especially since they "caught it" before it entered earth's atmosphere. |

This smacks of a 1994 TV-movie called WITHOUT WARNING that took place around Hallowe'en. In that scenario, three asteroids impact earth at precisely the same time and their landing points created a perfect triangulation; two eyewitnesses are injured and babble incoherantly.
Long story short: another BIG one shows up, we nuke it from the sky and [after decoding the witnesses babble] then realise the first three were atually messages from ET's coming to help us. After we nuke the big boy... they send thousands of incomings to detroy earth. End of movie. And us.
BTW: in the film, NASA lied their asses off.
It was actually a little better than it sounds... |
