Possible Viewing/Impact Times For Asteroid TC3 Over North America!!
Quote

Asteroid TC3 is supposed to be travelling West to East over Sudan, entering the atmosphere at 10:48 ET with a velocity of 12.8 kilometers per second.

The asteroid is coming at a low, many scientists are saying the asteroid entering the atmosphere can be compared to skipping a stone off the water.

Let's say this asteroid ends up skipping for a particularly long time. How long before it would be skipping over North America and the United States?

Here's a Pacific Ocean centered map-

[link to www.wikimapia.org]

The distance between Sudan and the West coast of the US is about 23,000 kilometers, to distance from Sudan to the East coast about 29,000 kilometers.

With a velocity of 12.8 kilometers per second, that would take about 30 minutes to go from Sudan to the West coast of the US, and about 38 minutes to the East coast.

So in that scenario, it asteroid TC3 could be traveling over the West coast of the US at approximately 11:18 ET, and over the East coast of the US at approximately 11:26 ET. Taking about 8 minutes to travel over the US if it survived.

Assuming that velocity slows down as it skipped across the atmosphere, this 8 minute window over the US would be pushed back to start as late as around 11:45 ET.

So if the asteroid survives or if any of the debris survives, it could be coming in over the US anywhere from 11:18 pm ET to around midnight ET. It might be worth it to poke your head outside now and then around those times to see if you see anything.
