Why not just come out (Trinity) and debunk it for once and for all ????

Well-DAMN!!!
Do we need to "SPELL-IT-OUT" for you, dude? (I don't mean to be rude-I'm just being a bit dramatic!)
GLP is a conspiracy-forum! Take away the mystery and what do you have left?
Nothing!!!
But rest assured-Trinity has absolutely NO-reason to shoot himself in the foot! GLP is his baby-he takes good care of it (plus-GLP has the best MODS in the business-check out other forums and you'll quickly discover more mess than truth!)
Bottom-line, no kool-aid here. Carry on................ Starbug

How amazingly unlikely is your birth,

What assets? How can you strip something that doesn't exist?
Really? It's called banking assets. Much the same as Switzerland. Next, you'll say Switzerland has assets that "don't exist".
Not to mention Iceland's strategic military locale. Oh, never mind, they have nothing but fish. Carry on.
$100b of banking debt does not qualify as an "asset". What banking assets were you referring to? Did you mean worthless currencies that have been swindled from depositors to loan on worthless investments? Do they not teach basic accounting in Iceland?
Iceland's strategic military location wasn't worth much when she went begging for cash this morning, now was it? Methinks you have an irrational view of this particular island.
You daft prejudice cunt. Do the world a favor and kill yourself. Your views are fueled by jealous thus your judgment is clouded. Though these are tough times for the Icelandic people it will not lower us to your level. You mentioned earlier that you hope your country crashes and burns and that it would not effect you since you are "prepared".
What the fuck do exactly mean by "prepared", what part of your soul did you have to sell? When the time comes will you be living in a cardboard box eating canned goods? Yeah, we are in bad form right now-- yet, I can guarantee you that the Icelandic people wont need to sacrifice nearly as much as you might have. We are prepared. The truth is, Icelandic people are not debt driven. The cause of this crisis is not the people, so get it out off your thick head.
I have been all over the world, and have lived in the United States, Australia, and Iceland. I know the Icelandic people will be all right. As for you, you have probably spent most your life, on the net, in your own fucking bedroom.
My advice for you is back the fuck off this topic. This is a serious matter, and this has affected a lot of people. Show some respect. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 519914
I too have spent time in Iceland. The populace acts like a bunch of spoiled rich kids who don't realize THAT THEY ARE LIVING ON A FUCKING ISLAND AND EVERYTHING HAS TO BE IMPORTED AND THEY ARE FUCKING CLUELESS ABOUT WHERE THE FUCKING MONEY COMES FROM. 100% loans my ass. Time for a wake-up call. The Icelandic people are entirely debt driven. THEY HAVE NO ECONOMY APART FROM FISHING AND MALINVESTMENT.
Wake up, eurotrash. |

What the hell? I, nor the government, never blamed this on other people. I once mentioned that the crown lost its value due to bad circulation within it´s homeland. In other words, inflation. Still, Iceland had nothing to do with the credit crunch. Like you mentioned earlier, Iceland only has a population of 300,000, and the money it is playing monopoly with is minor in comparison to what one little U.S. plays with. Iceland would have been fine if it weren´t for the credit crunch. Our government is strong, and the nation had done really well until all the sudden. The problem goes a lot deeper. Icelandic people are well educated and hard working, and are not at all like you describe. |

Obviously you have been blind to your nations problems for the last year.....even though they have been written about in the financial trades. Here is a basic economic factoid. If you need 100% financing for anything, you probably can't afford it. You have created your own credit crunch. Stop buying things you don't need for pete's sake. Stop blaming everyone else because your banks made bad investments and now the cash-cow has dried up!
They really have you folks isolated with your own propaganda over there, don't they? |

Look, if there is something I said that may have offended you, I apologise. Still, I do strongly disagree that this collapse had anything to with the hard working people of this country. This 100bln debt is not the peoples. I am not kidding when I say the Icelandic people are debt driven. For "petes sake", the Icelandic government is not even debt driven. The Icelandic crown, until later 2008, has been climbing, and climbing. If you would like to lay the blame on any Icelandic people it should be the CEOs and bankers who decided to dwell into foreign debt. They tried to play the same game everyone else is playing, it is called profit. That is why I blame the monetary system. This world thrives on profit and drives people to stupid decisions which ultimately leads to it´s own decline. Your views do not seem to different to my own so we really should not be having this argument. The Icelandic people did get fucked over, but they did not do it to themselves. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 111140 10/7/2008 6:37 PM | | Re: ICELAND---ACCOUNTS FROZEN AND NO ACCESS TO CASH OR DEPOSITS!!! | Quote | The director of the central bank of Iceland explained the situation in a TV interview this evening. He basically said that the banks had abused the economic freedom that followed the privatisation of the banks and deregulation of the financial system by excessive borrowing and investing, which he said the Central bank had warned about for years, without success, obviously.
He also said that the measures taken in the past few days basically mean that instead of indebting the nation for generations to come by bailing out the banks, it was decided to separate the domestic economy from the banks' foreign debts and activities so they are now on their own. Their creditors may get between 5-15% of their outstanding claims, with the WaMu case in the US as precedent, he said.
The country itself then remains in a fine economic condition, as the state itself is debt free as it has been for several years.
This is a lesson that is certain to be reflected in new controls on the banking system in the future. |
