People who buy gold don't plan on selling it. They won't use it during a depression. They may use it after depression is over and people start buying things again. I'm assuming the people who previously didn't turn in their gold held onto it until it was legal to have again. They just kept it or passed it onto their heirs.

for apmex.com if you dont buy over 10k at a time, there is no required reporting. gold coins can be stashed practically anywhere. you can hide 40 coins worth 40k anywhere. silver is harder to hide being worth less per ounce than gold...your choice. I would have 50 50 in gold and silver . so 10 k in silver 10 k in gold and 10 k in cash hidden. out

those people are stupid. They had coins which had been minted just before the seizure, and sent them in to be evaluated. Obviously with a bit of common sense they could have figured out they would get confiscated
