My neighbors ( a houseful of several Mexicans ) have a laundry house that vents a really nasty perfumy smell (probably fabric softener sheets or something) - and it drifts to my house and makes me gag. How do I stop them? Also I'm not 100% sure it's coming from their laundry - could a smell like that come from another house for another reason?

I DOES smell like the nastiest laundry fabric softener or detergent. Really makes me fucking GAG.


I have a job where I walk several miles a day through neighborhoods--here in California. Some of the poorest, run down homes, where one hears Spanish being spoken, broken down cars parked on non-existent lawns, Mexican TV soaps or Mexican music blaring--invariably have the strongest laundry detergent smell EVER often mixed with the smell of tortillas and beans on the stove. I'm not kidding. I come home telling my hubby that these illegals use the most overpowering smelling laundry detergents. Often outside the home will be smelly, rotting trash strewn around, including soiled baby diapers, the smell of dog shit and even the stench of death. But they counter this, I think maybe washing their floors and porches with laundry detergent.

Once when I visited Mazatlan, I exclaimed why would anyone want to go on vacation in Mexico? As soon as I got of the airplane my nose was hit with the pungent mixed smells of roasting tortillas and RAW SEWAGE. And the air was like that everywhere. "Tortillas and toilets" is what Mexico smells like.
