We can speculate all we want, but the simple truth is that we all need each other.
It's not just women needing men, but men need women too.
There is safety, community, and mutual benefit to banding together. Not just as couples, but in groups. We all need one another.

It's kind of a tragedy that there's a generation of young women just as afraid of commitment as young guys are thanks to the TV shows/magazines they watch/read.
I mean, young men are supposed to be afraid of commitment and the women are supposed to draw them in. But when you have women just looking for nonchalant sex as well, it ruins our society as a whole. |

Different ballgame. Last Great Depression America was an agrarian society. I see young adults all the time that could not cook themselves a frickin hamburger if their life depended on it. We live in a Just In Time Delivery society-ever been in the back of a grocery store??? Nothing but hallway and a shipping dock. Takes about 4 hours to strip one bare in a panic situation.....

Just to be fair, you may have a bit of a point in your conjecture concerning *most* women. ie: your America's Next Top Model watching, diet pop drinking, obsessed with shoes and shopping, la-la land residing, non-physically fit, never touched a weapon in her life or fearful of weapons, never experienced anything outside of her comfort zone, never endured physical or mental hardship, never been hungry or thirsty or in extreme distress (and on her rag)...and still have to calculate a co-ordinate on a plugger in the middle of a duststorm to ensure that not only herself, but four personnel in her charge make it to safety..okay, fair enough.
