What will "independent" women do when society breaks down?

The sad thing is, the load of arrogance and ignorance that is abound on this thread.

Men are equally as weak. For generations most men have done nothing but suck off the tit of the system and have no real survival skills. Sure, many men I know have MBA and technical degrees but not one ounce of survival information. I used to have a bunch of friends from the bigger cities when I was in college, many of them didn't even know where corn came from for crying out loud. They thought corn was always in a can, they were shocked to learn that it was a plant that about anyone can grow.

Even more discouraging, most men I know do not know what basic tools are , all they know are the power tools. Hand them a hand saw or a hand auger and they get that blank stare. Don't even dare hand them a post-hole digger that would cause their heads to explode.

Taking into account that less and less people are associating themselves with hunting and fishing, that reduces the number of people who can survive even more.

Sure the gangs will be trouble, sure they will inflict a lot of damage, but in the long run, they will falter as they too rely upon the tit of the system for their survival. These people have no idea how to do anything except to shoot a gun and kill. They lack hunting skills for starters. 10 to 1 says 5 real hunters with experience in the wilderness can take out a roving band of thugs who number in the 20s. These thugs will waste more lead firing at shadows then actual targets as their fear gets the better of them. The real hunters will then just mow them down from deer blinds etc. These thugs also lack the skills to gather basic needs such as water, many of them will die due to sickness caused by foul water. Many yet will perish from eating the wrong plants as they know nothing about edible plants. Many yet will perish since they lack the skills to even fish.

Gangs will be rough during the first wave, but as time moves on, they will either perish or drop their ways in order to survive. Society is different than it was decades ago, the JIT system has replaced long term storage of goods and food leaving the available resources low for these thugs and their survival time line is a lot shorter due to that. Also to note, many of these thugs will also go into withdrawl fits as their heroin and crack supplies dry up. These thugs will also be prone to in-fighting due to their current power based structure, more or less the lower pack dogs will start fighting to be the alpha as the tit dries up.

The street may have taught these thugs how to kill and roam in packs but it did not teach them how to survive. This whole mad-max ideal some of the people have is just a twisted fantasy. We are in a different time, people have been taught different things many of which have nothing to do with survival.

For myself, I was raised my a WWII vet and he thought it awful important to teach me how to defend myself (he also taught me to dance, go figure). And then I would be quizzed and shown a bit of hand to hand combat to know how to take a man down. He also taught me to shoot and target practices were a family weekend event. It wasn't always pleasant, but now I am grateful.

She will graduate with 10's or 100's of thousands of dollars worth of debt (which a man usually pays for) and then she will go to work at the local Mall, Starbucks, a waitress, or if she is REALLY ambitious, she will get a job as a secretary.
