Here is the info on these beans....maybe I'm dense, but how is this good? With all that salt, just a heart attack looking for a place to happen?

I know it gets old, but I gotta tell ya that ranch style can beans are one of the best things that you can get....stays good for YEARS, and it has a perfect balance of fat, protein, and carbs. It is also about the cheapest thing that you can get.

*Side note, it is canned with lots of water as well.

They look like this...pick up a couple every time you go to the market and you can amass many...

LOL....

Seriously, during week before Thanksgiving and week before Christmas, the stores will be discounting canned vegetables and other foods. You should stock up while they are competing for your business.

(Can stop at more than one store and buy what they each have on sale).

I place more emphasis on homemade powdered eggs for protein.
Also oats.

However powdered items are able to blow by wind if a tear of a bag. I prefer bits or slivers of seeds that are edible such as Chia for that reason.

Sure every post I have mentions goat blood...How do you think we get plasma tv's?

Organic needs are being assaulted. I'm not amused by this & encourage all to grow heirloom seed for themselves.

Get more +++ quality [net order, non popular name brand] vitamins.

Then cheap peanuts, cheap bleach, gentle hand sanitizer and coffee filters.

Re: Recession Proof GLP...One Year's Worth of FoodQuote

Certain things from long term food stores, expensive but tasty and very handy to have for baking: freeze dried cheese powder, freeze dried butter powder, freeze dried egg powder (whole eggs, not that icky egg-whites stuff).
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 460182

If you're planning on baking, then you'd better either have a propane- or kerosene- based oven on hand, along with alot of stored propane or kerosene.

If you're not expecting any food to be in the stores, then don't expect any electricity in the lines or natural gas in the pipes.

Always this caveat though...if you don't eat it now, you won't eat it in an emergency. 'nuff said.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 460182

Bull. In an emergency, people eat anything they can find. How many Americans eat out of garbage cans today?

People have even resorted to eating dirt in famines.
