Is a good idea but note that all evaporative techniques require a relatively dry atmosphere to work effectively. All I'm saying is that it won't work very well, if at all, in a humid environment.

tree stumps may be added ice and used as cooler. namely oak since large size and beech since coolest when I lay against.

Dig a deep hole in the ground and cover with a large rock. That will keep those pots nicely chilled. You could also put your cooler down there, too.

That's what my mother in law in Norway has at their cabin. Works beautifully.

Anywhere there's stream flowing place may be used as a form of icehouse. There jars touching the stream area and place building over top and keep stuff there.

I remember one day when I was on a beach partol I noticed these guys all laying around their towels with a few shovels and found it interesting to see guys out early on the beach just laying around they were down a few stands from me infront of a new guard figured I keep an eye on em.

So low and behold by 1030 they where getting rowdy and by noon just plain drunk. Just could not see any cans or bottles and I really didnt use my time on cop issues since drowning victims dont do time outs. And, somewhere should have been one of those resort summer copkids.


However by the time children could get hurt I figured I would run down and check out the area So I called for someone to sit my stand. What I found was a surprise. Under the towels they had buried a keg and then poured gas on it. It kept it bone cold and I almost cried when we had to extract it.

Many years ago back on the farm (a mountainous wet area) we used to channel water through a pipe from an underground spring via gravity into the milk house and into an insulated storage tank. It would fill with cold water and drain out an outlet, This would keep the milk cans icy cold until the creamery truck came. No electricity required.
A good system that could be applied if similar circumstances exist.

Location here is in "The Endless Mountains" of Northern PA.
We have two seasons, Winter and the 4th of July. Water coming from these rock filled mountains is always cold.
Should add that due to the requirement of constant flow for dairy farming needs, water was collected from the spring in a "water house" uphill from the barn before being sent down.

Can't speak for warmer climates.
