Army humvees (HMMWV) sightings: Western PA in back streets

And PA just passed a Bill making it ILLEGAL for Federal troops/Military to take weapons (firearms) from PA citizens during any kind of emergency or declaration of Martial Law!
I hadn't heard that.
Can you link that for me? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 306075
I don't have a link but it was posted here on GLP with several links there.
Trust me, it's real. |

Where in W PA? County & town would be helpful in figuring it out.
Allegheny county.
Humvees seen in Northside, Mount Oliver, Carrick, McKeesrocks, southside, brentwood, mt washington, dormont, mt lebanon, beechview. the ones underlined are for sure.
You sure they're Army? The places you list are all less than 7 miles from Allegheny County Airport, home of the 171st Air Refueling Wing. If Malu is wrong and they're not vehicles that have been surplussed, my first guess would be ANG maneuvers - comm gear checks, dispersal exercise, etc. Quoting: Lost Fisherman
That makes more sense, being airforce. I'm sure they are not surplus. They have numbers painted on them, 2 really big antennas from the back tied down in the front. They have ID numbers on the side and if I remember correctly they did not have a license plate but something sort of similar painted on the vehicle.
Every impression says they are active HMMWV, military. |

OP.
Is this the same Western PA. where if you don't have guns, you aren't shit?
Lots of hunters in that area (I lived in Jeanette) and lots of hiding places for those who know the area.
The LAST city I would try to capture with a small force (under 10,000 personnel) is Pittsburgh!
you got that right! And PA just passed a Bill making it ILLEGAL for Federal troops/Military to take weapons (firearms) from PA citizens during any kind of emergency or declaration of Martial Law!
PA rocks in that respect as well. Pennsylvania has A LOT of food, steel, water, coal, woods, Lake Erie, and shipping lanes near Philly, good intra-state travel, the Appalachian.
Pennsylvania would do very well on there own. If the whole country goes to hell, we Pennsylvanians will be raising a new Golden Age. We will unite our northeastern brothers and sisters. The New NorthEast USA will be a grand nation. A nation I would be proud of, i hope.
Plus we have lots of Amish too. PA could probably triple our barn construction compared to our neighbors. I would set up shop to make and sell grain alcohol to those West Virginia folk. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 505084 BTW....now all we have to do is get rid of Gov. "Fast Eddie Rendell". I used to live in Clairton. I wonder if they are getting ready for that Force Majeure thing??? |

the numbers are the unit ID, what are the numbers? that'll tell you if AD or RES...what color are they, beige, ODG, or camo pattern? |

I'll be driving by one of the units a bit later on. They are an olive green, no camo, solid green. Honestly, it is an impressive vehicle.
I'll get info on the markings. But I do want to be careful as to not step beyond my legal rights. I have to see if identifying an active military unit would cause any trouble for me. |

With all the strange news lately, troop activation in US soil, the Sun acting weird, financial turmoil, ect...one must wonder what is up.
I believe Pittsburgh PA is one of the 'safe' zones when tshtf. |

The State can. The State can also mobilize its military and 'leave' the federal gov.
We are a republic, the State has more authority over its civilians, land, ect then the fed does. And if the Fed tries to say that ain't so, then the USA was hijacked, get your guns! |

Green Camo
no rear plates...instead, markings are...
28ID 28X HQ-45
two high voltage antennas about 8-10' long tied down.
one X style antenna on the roof of vehicle about 1' x 1'.
Wheel block was used and tied to chain.
Inside is nothing but communications equipment. One box was marked 25 (Mhz or Hz)RF, i think it was Mhz. (25Mhz RF)
Inside also had various instructional sheets posted such as simple operation posters.
Similar type of hummer spotted elsewhere today. I will not reveal precise locations. Generally they are stationed around Pittsburgh PA. Total of 14 counted by others as well. |

Interesting because this article, dated Sep 23 2008, said the 28th ID was going on a year long deployment to Iraq. What are they doing here?
[link to www.blackanthem.com]
WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - Duty, honor, country, family. The words known so well to local Soldiers of the 3/103rd Regiment echoed across the parade field at the Grove Street armory Thursday afternoon as the community gathered with friends and families to wish luck to the unit as they deploy to Iraq on a year-long mission as part of the 56th Stryker Brigade Combat Team of the 28th Infantry Division.
Unless I have made a mistake... |

I don't know how many consitutes "they" that are still here (these vehicles), but I've never know of any depoloyment, combat or training, in that the whole Btn, absolute, is sent off. There are always some left behind.
