in case you haven't noticed 250,000.00 a yr income is not a high level lifestlye .next calculate and add state federal and county taxes ..add health insurance cost ....these people will be lucky to have 150,000.00 left for all other living expenses like car payments house payments home repairs home maintanance car repairs car maintanance ...childcare .then add in unexpected busineses expenses which still must be paid..then add a decling economic situation. then factor in the cost of new equiptment for the compay.these folks are not well off by any stretch of anyones imagination.....have i clarified this for you...then add on 401 K contributions ...

If your business pays $200,000 for widget parts, and sells those widgets for $250,000, you are not taxed on $250,000. You are taxed on $50,000 -- the profit. The cost for the parts is assumed to be a legitimate business expense, and is not taxed as business income.

In general, S Corporations do not pay any income taxes. Instead, the corporation's income or losses are divided among and passed through to its shareholders. The shareholders must then report the income or loss on their own individual income tax returns.

Question
I am a shareholder of an S-Corp in which I incur expenses which are un-reimbursed...primarily travel related and some depreciable equipment. I have,in the past, taken interest expense on debt incurred for the purchase of the S-Corp shares as a non-passive loss on Line 28 B (h) on my Schedule E. What are the requirements to take these other expenses onto Sch E?

Answer
Shareholder expenses that are ordinary and necessary are deductible on schedule E line 28. Interest paid on borrowings to acquire S-Corp stock is deductible. Travel expenses and depreciation are not ordinary and are not deductible unless they show a valid business purpose.

I would find it hard to deduct depreciation as you would have to show that it was necessary for you to acquire the equipment for business use.
