"The general public when it takes place won't se any decrease in service.. They largely won't know about it." Quoting: Anonymous Coward 493538They can cut 40 thousand people and the public won't feel a thing? How is that? Why were these people on the payroll if they didn't do anything? Or will they cut those people and then work the people that are left into the ground? The Post Office has always seemed suspicious to me. It doesn't seem like a job that requires a lot of brains. Is that why there are so many minorities that work for the post office? Sort of a job they can stick the minorities in and then claim the government employs a lot of minorities? Just not in the important, big paying jobs that they give the zionists. . |

Quoting: Rota 533467This MAY have been true in the past, but you need to remember that the U.S.P.S. is no longer a governmental entity. Several years ago it was taken over by a private corporation (because the government was losing money with the service). After the take over, a lot of postal workers were chopped. Today, this is why the individual talking about job cuts at the U.S.P.S. will come first from "non-union" workers; an indirect reference to the fact that the U.S.P.S. is a privately owned business. |

They keep hiring because the new hires start as temps or part-time flex. They are not in the union and are not covered by benefits. Part-time flex workers typically do 60 hour weeks for several years before becoming full-time and coming into the bennies. In the meantime, there is currently a "no-overtime" policy for regular employees. Except for this week, so they can handle all the political junk mail. |

I'm glad I'm not the only one here who knows that. My sister has worked at the post office for more than 20 years. They regular get smart asses that tell them they pay their salaries. It's not just less envelopes going through that is causing the problem right now. They ship for businesses, too. That has dropped off dramatically the last few months. I can't remember where I saw this, but UPS is also planning job cuts. All these layouts are planned to start in 2009, after the holiday rush. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 537934 United States 10/29/2008 10:03 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | By Jonathan McCall - bio | email Quoting: Anonymous Coward 493538SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - "We lost 2 billion dollars and like any other business we have to stay afloat." And to keep from sinking, the United States Postal Service is considering cutting thousands of jobs nationwide. Lavelle Pepper with the post office in Shreveport says they too are feeling the affects of the same disease hitting the country... a struggling economy. "We employ about 685,000 people. If we do layoffs it would include clerks, carriers, mail handlers across all crafts." Pepper says the postal service is looking to eliminate 40,000 jobs nationwide. There's not an exact number on how many of those could be from the Ark-La-Tex. Pepper says workers who are not part of union with six or less years of service would likely be the first on the chopping block. "We've identified 16 thousand people that are not covered under contract. We'll see what those numbers add up to." The postal service is also offering early retirement packages to workers over the age of 50 who have more than 20 years on the job. But according to pepper it may not be enough. "The preliminary numbers look like it's not going to be enough and we may have to do something else." But despite what may happen, Pepper says customers will not feel the pain they're going through. "The general public when it takes place won't se any decrease in service.. They largely won't know about it." [link to www.ksla.com] |

And if you even think of complaining, they will turn right around and leave you standing for 15 minutes or so. They walk real slow. If there is a long line, a counter clerk will peak around the corner and take off to the back. They have maybe 3-5 spots where you can be helped at the counter, but only 1 employee manning them. All the while you hear lots of people in back laughing, giggling, and being real loud doing nothing. But. like I said, don't dare complain about it..... |
