Anonymous Coward 12/08/2005 10:11 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Babyboomers are not the ones who started Social Security. I agree many of the younger generation have been badly raised and show no respect for their elders. That type of behavior is somewhat expected in the teen years but then you reach adulthood and realize you should treat the older people with respect. This younger generation is a me, me, me generation and many refuse to grow up. |
Anonymous Coward 12/08/2005 10:11 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I wonder WHERE they LEARNED that from? NOT YOU ohhh no...you live what you learn..baby boomerīs started this whole big ugly mess where in..your attitude of nothing else matterīs except for the personal acquisition of material shit...and it doesnt matter how or who you step on to get it...your in generational denial... |

a-noid 12/08/2005 10:11 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Geez! I donīt know where you guys have been. Look around you. Donīt you see that the present boomers are between 18 and 30? And they have been groomed to be "team players" all their lives...from sports to art classes 5-6 afternoons a week, they have been attending group functions since the age of 3 years!! Most of them still live at home and donīt want to leave. They are incapable of free-thinking because their schedules have been pre-planned their whole lives. They are not burdened by worrying about achieving goals as their self-esteem has been tempered over time through the abovementioned discipline. I donīt know who started this thread, but it sounds to me like a frustrated, self-absorbed yuppie who just realized he/she has to pay interest through the wazoo for all those toys that they just HAD to have and couldnīt have patience to save for. They canīt point the finger at themselves, so they look to their parents who spoiled them rotten all their lives as the scapegoats. |

Anonymous Coward 12/08/2005 10:11 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I give up, Temporarily....Im not comforted by any thing that any past generation has done...and hesitatingly my own Generation X the original, I guess itīs up to my daughterīs gen to live through and re-establish a sane planetary manegement system...I hope for her sake, she and kidīs her age are so bright...they know inherently future things we dont.. |
Anonymous Coward 12/08/2005 10:11 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Iīm 34 and was always poor as shit. My parents were hippies that never learned how to save a dime. They work at an $8. an hour job now, and they are 62 and 63. I worry about them nonstop. They have been borrowing money from my brothers for years. They have been taught absolutely nothing about fiscal responsibility. They also taught us nothing. Except how to skip town when the phone and cable gets shut off. This year, I am moving far away from them, so I can have some peace from their controlling crap. I donīt know what to do with them. They never taught us anything about college, nothing. Of course none of us went. Itīs a sad situation. It seem like a lot of the baby boomers are like that. They were spoiled and had easy credit and owned houses when they were like, 20, and took it for granted. My parents owned a mansion and three cars a in San Jose. They owned a farm in Napa. A hotle in SF. They blew it because they lived way beyond their means and spend every single penny they have as soon as they get it. Baby boomers were born between 1945 - 1963. |
a-noid 12/08/2005 10:11 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | If itīs any consolation, you have seen the pitfalls that await the majority who are living the high-life on the edge of ruin by depending too much on material possessions. The simpler life that you have endured because of their negligence over the years has made you a survivor. Bill Gates did not go to college either. It was his tenacity and love of his craft that gave him his success. The children of today have lost the drive to pursue a goal. They give up when things get tough. You have seen the obstacles and overcame them through your dealings with your parents. You know what NOT to do, and nobody learns that in college. Take each day as it comes, and look for the small miracles. |
Anonymous Coward 12/08/2005 10:11 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | AC 10:47 hit a nerve, that personīs way of mentality epitomises are large portion of the babyboomer mentality, I grew up watching and listening to my older brother and his friends say those exact thingīs...maybe this really about him I donīt know...I have worked hard all my life since 13 as have my parentīs , I have a daughter and I sure as hell dont expect or demand that she work solely for my retirement and old age security....that person got to me... |

AC 10:47 12/08/2005 10:11 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Iīve been working a steady job for over 35 years and in that time have only missed a total of 10 days of work Letīs see if your record is as good. I never borrowed a dime from my parents and was out of the house at 18. Iīve worked for everything Iīve owned so donīt go condemning the baby boom generation because youīre mad at the world. |
