One of the oldest proofs of the Earth's shape, however, can be seen from the ground and occurs during every lunar eclipse. The geometry of a lunar eclipse has been known since ancient Greece. When a full Moon occurs in the plane of Earth's orbit, the Moon slowly moves through Earth's shadow. Every time that shadow is seen, its edge is round. Once again, the only solid that always projects a round shadow is a sphere.

If you travel north or south a signigicant distance, you will see a
different set of stars at night. This will not happen on a flat surface.

If you climb higher, you can see further. On top of a mountain or
lighthouse, or in an airplane, you can see things that are invisible
-- below the horizon -- when you are on the ground. For example, if
you watch the Sun set, and at the very moment when the Sun is just
below the horizon you climb quickly up a hundred feet, you will see
the Sun again. It is hard to explain why you can see further when you
climb higher unless the Earth's surface curves downward away from you
wherever you stand.

A simple hypothesis - The earth is in all space - finite space - so imagine you go from 1 to 100 - when you get to hundred there is no other place to go except back to 1. That's the same with earth in finite space - when you go on walking in one direction you come back to the same place you started from, going east - going west- going up - going down - you come back to the same place you started from.

The only other thing that is solid and real, up in the sky is the Moon - that is the underside of the earth. If you dig a hole in the earth, deep enough, you will turn up on the moon and vice versa !!

If you put a flat stick in water it appears bent and curved.This is how a flat earth appears when you look at the curved horizon.Its actually flat but the horizon appears curved !!!

It can all be based on Einstein's 'Theory of Relativity" and the bending of light !!

This is simply field of view via the hypotenuse towards earth.

(Right angle = you going up, hypo gets bigger = see farther away (but not due to curvature, which does not exist))

Assuming you could ONLY look at a 45 degree angle... but without curvature, nothing should limit your field of view. You should be able to see the same distance if you are at 5000 feet or 30000 feet, were the Earth flat.

This is incorrect.

That is why a tent covers more area on a plane the higher the mount pole is. The higher you go, you will see more on a flat surface, such as the earth.
