Ron Paul’s California write-in votes will be tallied!!!

He did not qualify in Arizona. I called my Secretary of State's office, and they quoted me the State Statute that deemed any write-in vote would be NULL AND VOID and NOT COUNTED.

There are only three "official" write-in Presidential candidates that will be tallied in AZ.

If the name does not appear on this list, the write-in vote will be THROWN OUT.

I sort of understand the reasoning but it still frosts me a bit too. Basically write-in candidates would not have representation at the electoral college (which is obv where our President is actually "elected") so they have to limit the field. And it is "courtesy" for a person who ran - and lost - in their Party's Primary to NOT apply as an "authorized" write-in in each state. If Paul felt that strongly about continuing his run, he could have run under a third-party affiliation.

Thus, I backed off my idealistic stance and did not write-in Ron Paul's name. Instead, I voted for the next best thing, the Libertarian candidate Bob Barr.

Good luck Bob, we need it - but you got my vote.
