Interesting comment from a little black boy the other day at my apartments

He was riding his bike and stopped at the apartment laundromat. He was getting a coke out of the coke machine. He got his coke then started drumming and beating on the machine. Now I asked if he could please stop because it was pretty loud and its right by my apartment. He did stop but then he said something that shocked me. He said his momma said that as soon as Obama becomes president we aren't gonna have to worry about white folks anymore.

Who will run the hospitals properly? Oh, I am aware that there are people of color who run hospitals...right into the ground the same way they run cities and everything else they attempt to control into the ground.

I can't belive how many racists there are on GLP, it makes me sad.

I think what his mother meant was they wont have to worry about discrimination and oppression by white folks anymore, and I hope she is right.

I believe the racism came from the little boy, not the OP. That is definitely NOT an isolated incident. I have had a few similar events happen. What we need to remember, no matter how ugly they get, there is a very real and justifiable reason for them to feel validated at this moment.

So, when this happens to me, do you know what I say?
