Dumb question but the seeds they sell in the store are bad aren't they? Only reason I ask is because the squash I planted this year produced mainly male flowers few female and rarely at the right times it was like they were confused...sigh.

When you go to buy your seeds, look on the package, if it says "hybrid" or "F1" or "GM" dont buy them. If you can, buy your seeds at a nursery and ask specifically for heirloom seeds, or there are lots of heirloom seed companies that sell over the net.
