Has anyone had Toxic Mold in their home?
Ever since Jan. I've been as sick as a dog.I suffer from
beyond severe asthma, stabbing pain through out my entire body, burning sensation in feet. Stabbing pain in the corner and on top of my eyes. Fatigue, memory loss, confusion... and many other things.

Please has anyone out there suffered from these symptoms too with a diagnosis? My docs just keep saying it's a lung issue and do NOTHING about it!!!!!!!!!!! I'm at my wits end! I truly feel like Im going to die from my asthma.

Re: Has anyone had Toxic Mold in their home?
Leave your residence for at least three weeks, though four would be better.

Do not take any linens or furniture with you as mold spores stick to everything.

If you feel better and have the start of relief from your symptoms it is very likely you are with either allergic to something in your home or you have a toxic environment.

Don't mess around, both of my in-laws are living on oxygen because toxic mold destroyed their lungs.

Re: Has anyone had Toxic Mold in their home?
Why did you ask about mold? Have you all found any in the home? If you do, it is not something to take lightly.

From personal experience. My brother in law bought a house, that had the stuff all over it. It was before all the news reports and things had come out about it. The smell would just about knock you out. And when he didnt keep the walls clean, it would literally start growing up the walls.

After living there for two years, besides the respiratory issues, it also caused mental problems. He became paranoid, and delusional, and eventually, committed suicide. It devastated the family, it happened so fast. They were in the process, of trying to get him committed when it happened. This is in a guy, with no previous mental illness, or mental illness in the family, and who was past the age for typical onset of schizophrenia.

About six months after his death, I saw a report on the mold, and how in severe cases, the spores can move past the respiratory tract and into the brain, causing delusions.

We miss you Jeff.

Yep. We had to move to a new home and leave much of our belongings behind. I found this website to be very helpful.

There are places who have mold sniffing dogs to find if you have mold in your home. I had mold in my home and it caused severe allergy problems and caused a hellacious outbreak of eczema all over my entire body for about a year.

Re: Has anyone had Toxic Mold in their home?
I lived in a house that had mold inside the walls for several years. During that time and ever since, I've had breathing problems. Asthma (which I NEVER suffered from before) allergies, chronic bronchitis AND emphysema. All contracted, I'm sure, from that home. My doctor at the time kept giving me antibiotics and telling me I had bronchitis and to stop smoking. My lungs were full of mucous and I had a terrible cough. I was beyond tired but I also have fibromyalgia and nerve damage so I wasn't aware that mold could cause the same symptoms with the burning in the hands and feet, pain, etc. I finally was able to move out but had to bring many of my things with me (how do you throw away everything that you own?). I switched doctors and now see a pulmonary specialist who is the one who informed me that I had asthma, emphysema and bronchitis. I have tried all sorts of inhalers, allergy meds, and now I am getting monthly allergy shots. Nothing seems to help really. It's miserable. I don't doubt that I'll soon be on oxygen. I'm 42 and have been sick from this for about the last 6 years. Change doctors if this one isnt going to help you. Do it now and get out if you can.

OMG! You sound like me! Only I don't smoke! I get stabbing searing pain in my heart and lungs...but they check out ok. When I'm having asthma the bottom of my feet burn! I get random stabbing pains in my organs and in my body and eyes. My tounge and jaw just forward for no reason and I bite my tounge.

An ozone generator is supposed to kill toxic mold and neutralize a lot of bad stuff. I have one and use it just to keep the bad stuff gone.

Be careful of the vendors. Not all ozone generators are quality. There is an ozone spray that is usd in hospitals that may help and not cost so much. Spraying it on your bedding would be the best thing for you.

Coltsfoot extract is very good for the lungs. Be sure and take LOTS of Vitamin C...3000 mg 2xday or more. If you have a serious allergy, Echinacea is good for that.

Make sure the air filters are changed often in your AC and furnace.

I get stabbing pains in my heart and lungs as well. And like you, my heart and lungs checked out okay too, although I did have pneumonia for awhile. I also get pains in other organs, especially my spleen, pancreas and kidneys. Do you also have digestive problems? And the muscle twitches and random head jerking drives me crazy. I hate the heart pounding the most. I also have candida yeast and parasites...am working diligently to get rid of those now.

I hope that you will change doctors as well. Go see a naturopath, homeopath or some other type of alternative doctor. You will never get well if you treat the symptoms and not the whole body.

I've been seeing a naturopath doctor. She has helped me, but it's a slow process. I was unknowingly exposed to the mold for 11 years. At least I'm not so weak that I have to do my grocery shopping in a wheelchair anymore. She's a naturopath, master herbalist, and was also trained under the Amish healer, Solomon Wickey. She consulted with Solomon about my situation, and he had her put me on the Research Formula by Pure Herbs. [link to www.pureherbs.com]

Also, you can get an airborn mold test from Lowe's for about $8 or $9. It's really easy to do. The mold that showed up in our petrie dish was a shiny, velvety greenish-black mold with with white spots growing on it. You can send the petrie dish into a lab for about (I think) $60.

My son, daughter, and my ex all lived in the house I described and I ended up with the breathing problems, my daughter has the skin issues, rashes, eczema, boils..though I never related them to mold until now. (blame that on the memory problems, I guess) Nobody else who lived there got sick. Who knows why. Some people are more sensitive to it. I'm glad you brought this up. Before this post, I hadn't given alternative treatments much thought, but the doctors aren't helping. I think I am going to look into buying some brown seaweed extract and that ozone spray sounds helpful too. Good luck, hope you feel better, and take this VERY seriously!!

To even have somebody on this planet that undestands what I am going through has me sobbing tears right now. Tears of relief. Some of the doctors that I have been to try to make me feel like it's all in my head except for the fact my brathing function tests are pure shit...like 130 and my once below normal blood pressure is now at times 178/117 when it WAS 108/80 ( but normal for me, I am very small).

(((HUGS))) I totally understand where you are coming from, with doctors especially. I have found ONE thing to so true in dealing with them. They only want to treat the symptoms, not the problem. I learned a long time ago to take an active role in my recovery and not depend on doctors. Nothing that they have tried to date has been successful. Not in treating the pain, the neurological disorders, or the lung problems. Sure they can tell me something's wrong, but they have yet to fix any of it. Detoxification seems to be key. That seems like a great place to start.
