Ranking House Republican: "No TARP Funds for GM"
Ranking Republican member of the House Budget Committee, Rep. Paul Ryan from Wisconsin, just said on CNBC that his interpretation of Treasury Sec. Paulson's speech this morning focused on a limitation of TARP funds. In particular, he stated that it's his belief that TARP funds will not be given to automakers (in particular GM).

Pardon my ignorance, but what's TARP? I keep hearing it, but missed something.

Is this the bailout money congress allocated a month or so ago, or something else?

Yeah that's what Paulson pretty much said. Any economic stimulus or auto maker bailout is NOT covered under TARP. "TARP is for financial services only"...nice huh?
