What conclusion can we draw from this for our inner life? That we must learn to re-establish silence within us, so that the divine Spirit may work on our psychic matter. As long as we are rebellious, stubborn, and anarchic, the Spirit cannot act on us, and we remain weak and miserable. No sooner do we manage to create silence than we place ourselves under the influence of the Spirit."
