I never understood the allure until I moved here ten years ago from deep east Texas.
We have major crime problems but so do many big cities. But I admit it's a worry.
Reasons to stay here: no tornadoes, no severe thunderstorms, no ice or snow or sleet, yeah summer is hell, but you are rewarded with 8 months of perfect weather.
You get used to the heat.
It sure beats the hell out of East Texas.
Oh yeah, we have an insane meglomaniacal Sheriff.
Bottom line: not as bad as some say
