Here in NM, 1000 employees for Eclipse air planes, were told yesterday that company had no money to pay for their 2 weeks worth of wages.

sorry to hear that. I've been laid off from two jobs in the past two years. The first time took me 9 months to find a job that lasted 4mo before they laid me off.
I started a business and now make more than I did with my day gig. |

I got a job through Manpower - they pimp you out to big companies for temp labor at bargain basement prices. Was making about $8 an hour with a degree and ten years experience in a tech field. They had me doping computer drafting for a big oil company - as much overtime as you wanted though. |

Another area that you can make good money in at least around here is a home handyman as most of the houses are aging. The guy that put my door on had a degree in psychology but was making more doing home repair. The next guy had an engineering degree. |

That sucks. My wife and I worry constantly this is going to happen to either of us, too and we have 4 kids to feed.
Time to start fishing I guess. Take what you can get for now and work your way back up the ladder. I had to do the same thing back in 2000 when everything went belly up in telecom. Even worked 2 jobs to feed the family. |

Probably bankruptcy - if not a class action on behalf of he employees if they are keeping the money. Employee wages are a priority claim in a bankruptcy like child support and taxes. They get paid before the unsecured creditors. |

This is always a good idea. Where I work we watch the temps closely, and offer the good ones the permanent jobs.

Thanks for all the well wishes.
I have a positive attitude that this is an opportunity for something better.
My wife is a little freaked out though.
I do have two boys ages 5 and 9.
Tough job market to say the least....but I do have a feeling that this is for the best.

20,000 laid off today in the UK across Telecom and Banking industries, more promised by COB tomorrow and thousands more by Christmas.
I saw you had always been in Sales, it's fucked but I guess you'd sussed that.
My guess? Move into Health, Security or Government. Not everyones cup off tea but everyone wants to be paid. |

Unfortunately most people don't realize that everybody will change their jobs at least 8 times during their life. Too bad the education system doesn't prepare us for the eventual shock.
