PRESS RELEASE against the Mayor of Shawano Lorna Marquardt's Security Alert Scam
PRESS RELEASE The security alert in the city of Shawano, Wisconsin, the home of approximately 8,000 people, is a scandal and miscarriage of justice. The extra security measures, the metal detectors, police escort, and searches, are nothing but a ruse by Mayor Lorna Marquardt, City Administrator Jim Stadler, Police Chief Ed Whealon and other city officials to conceal the City officials’ illegal interference with SIST’s financial and business affairs.

Most recently, a Canadian individual, named Robert Cameron, told SIST that he had been hired by City officials, namely Lorna Marquardt, Jim Stadler, and Ed Whealon to rob $175,000 from SIST. Cameron came to SIST under the guise of wanting to be hired as a promoter for a racetrack owned by an SIST affiliate. To further entice SIST to accept Cameron’s racetrack promoter ploy, Cameron offered to lend SIST $10 million. Said loan was to be funded within 24 hours of SIST’s payment of the $175,000 racetrack promotion fee. SIST wired the $175,000 to Cameron on October 28, 2008.

Cameron acknowledged receipt of the same on October 31, 2008. SIST’s $10 million was to have been wired on November 1, 2008. Instead, after scam artist Cameron took the $175,000, he informed SIST that he was a hired gun for Lorna Marquardt, Ed Whealon, and the FBI to rob SIST.

Since the exploitation, SIST has not done anything, knowing according to Cameron’s information that the FBI are involved. Apparently, from illegally tapping SIST land lines and cell phones, city officials learned that SIST planned to wait to pursue recovery of the $175,000 until the Obama administration takes office to protect the rights of minority groups in this country. City officials, scared by the thought of being exposed, rushed to start a scandalous security alert propaganda campaign against SIST by creating a “hit list” to rouse, enflame, and terrorize the public to bring about our demise.

Ironically, Cameron resurfaced at one of SIST’s businesses on Tuesday, November 11, 2008. Cameron informed SIST that he has been meeting with Lorna Marquardt, Jim Stadler, Ed Whealon, and other city officials from time to time to plan the deadly swindle. Cameron told us that the judges, local officials such as Lorna Marquardt, Jim Stadler, Ed Whealon, Marlene Brath, attorneys, local businessmen meet bi-weekly to strategize on our demise.

He said that city officials expressed the opinion that they already had SIST by the throat and now they just needed to finish us off before Bush leaves office. When we asked Cameron if he was going to return the $175,000, he said certainly not. The money had already been distributed between the city officials and FBI. He only had only a small portion left for himself. The following day, Wednesday, November 12, 2008, city officials decide to make their seditious terror alert news to the world. We are responding by this press release.

Since the media is on their side, within minutes, the city has been able to spread this venomous lie across the country and start a treasonous national security alert against SIST. After more than three decades of attempted murders, bombings, death threats, physical beatings, harassment, vandalism, robberies, burglaries, lootings, moonings and business interference against SIST, not a single media has ever stepped forward to publish the truth about what is happening in this community. That is the reason for this press release.

Channel 7, a CBS affiliate television station, which has aired a number of unconscionable programs against SIST and its President, then posted their programs on the internet. Their site is being used to make death threats, racial slurs, and outrageous baseless allegations against our President, to incite and encourage the public to physically and sociologically harm him and ultimately kill him, and destroy SIST’s businesses.

Despite all this physical and emotional torture, in all these years, SIST has never even raised its finger against anyone. Now I heard that SWAT teams are training in Wausau to come and kill us.

From this press release, where can we go from here? There is no justice in the City of Shawano, State of Wisconsin, country of USA. The world community needs to know what is happening in this hellhole city of Shawano. The world community needs to move in and rescue us from the hands of these dangerous City of Shawano officials. If Shawano officials can make up such a story and create such a frame-up, what will they come up with next? Shawano's police chief says a member of the Samanta Roy Institute of Science and Technology is primarily responsible for alleged threats and a list of 60 people, including government officials, residents, and members of the media.

Shawano city and county officials held a news conference late Friday afternoon to detail the threat investigation.

Police confirmed there were implied threats of physical violence against three people on that list. The other 57 were targeted as causing the SIST group problems.

"It was implied they were seeking to have harm done to certain individuals in the Shawano community," Police Chief Ed Whealon said.

Police tell us this investigation started two weeks ago when a Canadian citizen who is a former business associate of SIST contacted Shawano police, telling them a list existed.

Police say the person provided documentation and gave extensive interviews with Canadian officers.

"This individual provided names to the Shawano P.D. that indicated these SIST members wanted to quote, 'Have these people taken care of,'" Whealon said.

On November 3rd, authorities obtained the list of 60. They call three of them "primary potential victims" of implied physical threats, and the others people who've caused SIST problems in the past but weren't in any physical danger.

Everyone on the list was notified, as they had to be by federal law, on November 5th.

Chief Whealon says a person of interest has been identified and questioned by authorities but is not in custody.

"The Shawano Police Department along with the sheriff's department is aware of who this person of interest is and is working with the FBI and have taken appropriate action to ensure the safety of people in our community until this investigation, which is being conducted by the FBI along with the U.S. attorney general's office, is conducted," Chief Whealon said.

Because this investigation is ongoing, neither the police chief nor the sheriff would comment on how or if they're monitoring this person of interest, but the sheriff did say he didn't consider the person to be on the run.

"Nonetheless, we ask these persons to continue to remain alert and report any suspicious activity to law authorities," Whealon said.

Friday morning, the FBI arrested the CEO of SIST on a federal bench warrant for contempt of court from Maryland. Chief Whealon emphasized her arrest is unrelated to the alleged threats (see related story).

Isaacson appeared on Action 2 News at Ten Thursday to deny accusations that the group is responsible for the alleged threats.

SIST Members Hand Out Pamphlets

Several members of the religious group SIST handed out fliers in downtown Shawano Friday morning presenting their side of their CEO calls a "scandal."

Three or four women and two men walked in and out of the road to hand out the pamphlets. They also placed some fliers on cars.

The information in the two-page pamphlet is similar to the message delivered by the Samanta Roy Institute of Science and Technology's CEO Thursday night, when Naomi Isaacson said the group has nothing to do with alleged threats against Shawano city and county officials.

At a news conference Friday afternoon, Shawano Police Chief Ed Whealon responded to the group's claims, saying they're baseless and completely false.

"I think if you write the story that we just told you about here and stick to the facts instead of referring to anything else, especially after this piece of garbage, I think the community is going to be just fine."

Action 2 News learned the FBI arrested the CEO of the Samanta Roy Institute for Science and Technology (SIST) Friday morning.

The FBI arrested Naomi Isaacson on a federal bench warrant from Maryland. The warrant is for contempt of court.

She's being held in the Brown County jail.

Shawano's police chief emphasized Isaacson's arrest is unrelated to alleged threats against 60 people, including Shawano-area government officials.

Isaacson spoke to the media Thursday night, saying SIST had nothing to do with the threats and that SIST was the victim in this case.

"He was a hired gun from the city to rob us of $175,000, and when the City found out we were going to Washington, DC, to higher up officials to complain about the scam, then they quickly hurried up and created a hit list to terrorize and rouse and inflame the public in this community," she said.

Police Chief Ed Whealon spoke about Isaacson's statement in a news conference Friday afternoon.

"If any normal person were to read this document and think for two seconds that there is any basis to this document...." he said. "When I first read this document, I thought I was reading a script from the X-Files."

Chief Whealon says a Canadian resident informed authorities about a list of 60 people -- given to the informant by a member of SIST -- who were considered potential victims of threats (see related story).

Police said they have a person of interest in the case and that the community is safe.

Shawano Police Chief Ed Whealon says the Samanta Roy Institute of Science and Technology, also known as SIST, is responsible for making implied threats against 60 people. Chief Whealon says investigators found out about the list from a person in Canada who used to be affiliated with the group and obtained a copy of the list.

"This individual provided names to the Shawano police department that SIST members wanted these people ‘taken care of,'" Chief Wheadon said.

The chief added SIST made the list of the people they believed were giving them trouble in the community. He would not go into details, but did say three people were at the top of the list.

"The three persons that have been previously identified were potential victims of a physical threat," he said.

The chief says at this time, he believes one person is responsible.

"The person of interest has been identified as a member of SIST," Whealon said.

That person of interest is not in custody.

Also today, the FBI arrested the woman who identified herself as the CEO of the group. Naomi Isaacson was taken into custody when she appeared in court for an unrelated warrant accusing her of contempt.

I've heard they owe a lot of money to local contractors for different jobs and haven't paid a penny. Most lately about that go cart track. Times are tough and they aren't even making payments. Not cool in a small town. Folks have to pay their bills, and it does make for hard feelings.

Man Arrested In Shawano Threat Case

SHAWANO, Wis. -- Shawano police arrested a man who allegedly made implied threats against 60 people in the northeastern Wisconsin town.

The man is part of a religious group that lives in the town, authorities said.

Investigators first learned of the threat two weeks ago.

It was made against a group of people including the mayor, sheriff, district attorney and police chief.

Police said a former business associate of the group who lives in Canada contacted them about the list.

The leader of the religious group was arrested Friday on an unrelated warrant.

It seems like propaganda... and it is! The site is registered in the name of Kal Gronvall, who, according to the following website, is the "chief fiscal officer for SIST."

SIST's Lawyer: Naomi Isaacson Being Mistreated

The Attorney for the Samanta Roy Institute of Science and Technology (SIST) says Naomi Isaacson is still being held at the Brown County Jail tonight on unrelated charges. Meanwhile, he's questioning her treatment behind bars and is further questioning what police motives were for yesterday's press conference.

Attorney Alan Eisenberg says yesterday's joint press conference held by the Shawano County Sheriff's Department and the City of Shawano Police Department was unnecessary. "The press conference was a joke. The only thing missing was the Chief's clown suit," Eisenberg declares.

At the press conference, police announced they were looking for a "person of interest", a member of the SIST. Eisenberg asserts there is no such person, no one has been questioned, and no one asked to come in. He calls the announcement from police-unethical. "You don't hold a press conference making accusations before anyone has been charged."

Police confirm tonight that the "person of interest" hasn't been picked up yet. Residents we spoke with aren't too concerned. Jeremy Heise maintains, "Everything I know about Shawano Police...they'll pick him up quick. It's just a matter of time." Bill Roche isn't worried..."I don't see a religious organization doing anything. But you never know...there are nuts out there."

Meanwhile, the SIST Attorney says their CEO, Naomi Isaacson, is being mistreated while in jail for an unrelated case. "She's not being allowed medication, no food, no water and she is being kept in an unheated cell," the Attorney alleges.

NBC26 contacted the Brown County Jail Supervisor who assures us...Naomi is eating, drinking and comfortable in her warm cell.

Photos Isaacson has posted online of her alleged physical abuse by the Shawano PD.

The article with it seems trumped up to me along with her alleged injuries. Everybody knows that when you lease a building to a restaurant franchisee they have to put in their own fixtures and they own said fixtures. Sounds like the cult was trying to cause problems by trying to keep what wasn't theirs. If the fixtures did belong to the cult, certainly Isaacson AS THE CULT ATTORNEY, would have been able to produce a copy of the lease stating which fixtures were included and were not included with the lease. No brainer stuff. She didn't do that.

If it were true she would have taken the lessee from Indiana to court to have the monetary worth of the fixtures reimbursed. Standard procedure.

Instead she put up a web page, whining, and creating persecution where there is none.

People don't have to like you. That's their right.

Because I used to work myself at the Brown County Jail I know all the cells are heated, that's such a crock I'm surprised her Milwaukee lawyer is spreading that garbage in the article.

Isaacson has a persecution complex, IMO.

They're so persecuted they take photos of everybody who drives by their compound entrance, so I've heard from neighbors. That's just weird.

But, they do have a right to exist. We can't deny others their rights while we expect our own to be upheld. They have the right to live in Shawano, they have the right to buy up as many businesses as they want to buy up, and Shawano has the right to take these businesses away legally if they don't pay their taxes and don't pay their creditors.

The system, while it may seem slow, usually works.

Yes, they're annoying. Yes, the community as a whole would be better off with them not being here.

But they have the right to be here. We have to honor that. Have to. In any community we can point the finger at any number of groups of people and say the community will be better off without them, and be right.

But doing something to further that is wrong. Because we have to honor their rights as we want our own honored. Have to.

It isn't up to any of us to interfere with others' rights to exist, not in America. It is up to each of us to uphold that right even when we might not like it personally. It's the duty of freedomm.

"Wicked" is in the eye of the beholder and we all know that.

While they keep claiming prejudice, they're all white folks saying that and the person they're saying Shawano folks are prejudiced against racially, from East India, hasn't been around here for years.

As for saying the mayor is prejudiced for not eating at the Best Western and not frequenting the fudge shop or the race track, I haven't either and I live here. Have no interest in those things, so what. That doesn't make me prejudiced in any way. Nobody has to frequent any business they don't feel like frequenting and it's nobody's business why or why not. SIST can't expect to have their rights upheld while they try to bash others' for being well within their own rights.

The histrionics of SIST is irritating. I won't be continuing this thread anymore unless there is something significant and newsworthy happening because I don't feel they should have the opportunity to abuse newsworthiness as a vehicle for undeserved publicity.

Perhaps they'll figure out they have to abide by the laws the same as everybody else has to, and they'll stop making excuses and just pay their taxes and pay their bills and live their lives. Nobody has a problem with that. I don't think they'll stop their dramatics, but they could. The local Amish don't get much grief from citizens. SIST wouldn't either if they didn't provoke it. JMO.

Family, friends and members of the Samantha Roy Institute of Science and Technology gathered at the Brown County Jail to protest alleged mistreatment of their leader, and CEO, Naomi Isaacson. "We have now escalated from starvation to torture," said Alan Eisenberg, SIST's attorney.

Isaacson was arrested Friday, just days after an FBI investigation into SIST came to light. Isaacson was sought on an unrelated bench warrant from Maryland. Her attorney says the warrant stems from a failure to appear in court in Baltimore. "She looks as pale as I've ever seen her," said Eisenberg. Naomi is a practicing Orthodox Jew. Her lawyer, along with about 50 others who showed up at the jail Sunday, say she is not being allowed to eat kosher food that her sister brought in for her. Most courts have ruled that if you are a practicing Jew with dietary restrictions, you are entitled to kosher food in jail. The Brown County Jail is not commenting on the case until Monday morning. But on Saturday, they did tell NBC26 she was being properly cared for. "This is not a publicity stunt. In my opinion, this life and freedom," said Eisenberg.

According to Shawano police, The Samanta Roy Institute of Science is at the center of an FBI investigation into alleged threats against city leaders, members of the City of Shawano, and members of the media. Eisenberg says he plans to file a formal complaint tomorrow against the Brown County Jail.

SIST C.E.O. Taken Into U.S. Marshals' Custody

One of the leaders of a Shawano County religious group left the Brown County jail this morning.

U.S. Marshals took Naomi Isaacson into their custody around eight o'clock.

The U.S. Attorneys Office in Baltimore says Isaacson is being brought to Maryland, where she's wanted for a federal bench warrant for contempt of court.

Isaacson is the CEO of the Samanta Roy Institute of Science and Technology, based near Shawano.

She was arrested Friday on the bench warrant, a day after appearing on Action 2 News and denying her organization was involved in alleged threats against 60 people.

Some Shawano officials say the FBI is investigating an implied threat from SIST against dozens of people, including city and county government official.

The U.S. Attorneys Office and Shawano County law enforcement say Isaacson's arrest is unrelated to the threat investigation.

Action 2 News also learned from Appleton police that four members of SIST were cited on Saturday for an ordinance violation. Police say the members illegally put flyers on cars in the parking lot of Northland Mall.

Mayor claims Samanta Roy has other identity: Roy's attorney denies

Affidavits filed in a civil suit in Shawano County Circuit Court claim R. C. Samanta Roy, founder and president of the Shawano-based Samanta Roy Institute of Science and Technology, Inc. (SIST), is living under the name Avraham Cohen in Baltimore, Maryland.

Samanta Roy – whose institute and its subsidiaries have purchased or entered into land contracts on Shawano area properties at a cost of more than $7 million – has reportedly pledged half a million dollars to a Jewish private school in Baltimore, according to the court documents.

The revelation about Samanta Roy's alleged Baltimore identity is included in filings as part of Shawano Mayor Lorna Marquardt's libel and defamation suit against SIST, two of its subsidiaries, and SIST representative, Kalmar G. Gronvall.

A motion hearing in the case is scheduled for this afternoon, at which point the affidavits are expected to be introduced.

One of the exhibits offered into evidence with the affidavits is an online article from the Baltimore school's web site regarding Dr. Avraham Cohen's pledge of $500,000 to the Yeshivat Rambam school.

The article, which states that Cohen is a neurosurgeon, includes a photo of Cohen with two young girls that are identified as his daughters.

Another affidavit, signed by Tony Zielinski of Shawano, identifies the man in the photo as Samanta Roy. Zielinski, who is a member of a city commission, said he knows Samanta Roy through his involvement with the city.

"I have known him for some time and recognize him in the picture," Zielinski is quoted as stating in the affidavit.

Rebecca Gietman, the attorney representing the defendants, said the claims made in the affidavits are not true.

"No, Dr. Roy is not living in Maryland as a neurosurgeon," she said. "That allegation is completely false."

Asked where Samanta Roy is located, Gietman said, "he has a residence in Shawano."

Gietman said the man identified as Cohen in one of the photos looks slightly like Samanta Roy. But she said there are "significant differences" between the two in another photo, showing Cohen with a member of the school staff.

The article on the Yeshivat Rambam web site describes Cohen as a neurosurgeon and successful businessman who grew up in the Jewish community in India.

According to the article, "Dr. Cohen's family was in the import export business, trading products with the merchants on the islands of Java, Sumatra, and Borneo. He went into medicine and then went into the hospital business."

Cohen is quoted in the Yeshivat Rambam article praising the Baltimore school.

"Now I belong to a Jewish school and a Jewish community, Yeshivat Rambam," he is quoted as saying, adding the school's teaching stems from the Torah.

The school's web site no longer has a link to the article. The Shawano Leader was able to obtain an archived copy of it, however. The article, headlined "A Shining Example," praises Cohen for his pledged donation to the school.

The Shawano Leader contacted the Yeshivat Rambam school for a comment about the information in the affidavits. A spokesperson for the school said she would relay the message to school president Seth Rotenberg. A short time later the spokesperson called back to say Rotenberg had no comment.

The photo of Avraham Cohen in the article was identified by at least four local businessmen as Samanta Roy, according to Marquardt's attorney, James Chereskin.

Chereskin said it was not necessary to have all of them sign affidavits as, "it would have been overkill."

Gietman said the allegation, along with being false, is also irrelevant to the lawsuit.

"Dr. Samanta Roy is not a defendant in that lawsuit," she said. "Even if that were true, it would be completely irrelevant, but it's absolutely not true."

Gietman was asked if Samanta Roy could be contacted for a comment and said that Samanta Roy speaks through her.

A message was left for Naomi Isaacson, who is listed as the registered agent for SIST and its subsidiaries. The call was not returned by deadline.

Gronvall, contacted Thursday, declined comment on the advice of his attorney.

In responding to the suit, SIST has attempted to distance itself from Gronvall and materials he has ostensibly printed accusing Marquardt of racism. SIST maintains Gronvall is no longer a member of its board and, in producing materials focusing on Marquardt, acted on his own, according to a court filing from SIST's attorney.

At the same time, SIST is also maintaining Marquardt is a public figure and Gronvall's published material is protected as free speech.

Samanta Roy arrived in the Shawano area in the mid 1970s, when he was known as Rama Behera and led the Disciples of the Lord Jesus.

Court records show he changed his name to R. C. Samanta Roy in 1990. In the early 1990s he established the Samanta Roy Institute of Science and Technology.

SIST and its subsidiaries run several businesses in the area, including the USA International Raceway, three gas stations, two hotels, a fudge shop, and the Spirit of the Northwoods in downtown Shawano. Several other businesses lease property owned by SIST or its subsidiaries.

SIST representatives have said the businesses are intended to fund an international boarding school in the Shawano area. Tax documents indicate SIST already operates a school in India.

Family Dollar pays landlord SIST's tax

Family Dollar has taken care of the property tax bill due on the building it leases from the Samanta Roy Institute of Science and Technology, allowing the store to go back to selling soda and opening its storefront amusement rides.

A check for $204,262.34 that city officials say bounced twice led to the pulling of beer and liquor, cigarette, soda, and amusement licenses at six properties owned by SIST and its subsidiaries.

The Family Dollar Store, 229 E. Green Bay St., which leases from Midwest Properties, lost its soda and amusement licenses when the city took its action on July 14.

City clerk Marlene Brath said Family Dollar came in on Tuesday to pay Midwest’s property tax on that building of $4,166.08, and interest on the delinquent tax of $291.63.

Another business that leases from Midwest Properties, El Mariachi Cantina and Grill, 635 S. Main St., and one that leases from SIST, the Hunan Chinese Restaurant, 145 S. Main St., paid property taxes on behalf of their landlords on July 14 and did not lose their licenses.

Property taxes remain delinquent for the Best Western Village Haus, 201 N. Airport Dr., which lost a Class ‘B’ beer and liquor license, and licenses for cigarettes, soda and amusements; The AmericInn, 1330 E. Green Bay St., which lost soda and amusement licenses; and three gas stations owned by Midwest Oil of Shawano, LLC —1381 E. Green Bay St., which had Class ‘A’ beer, cigarette and soda licenses; 1206 E. Green Bay St., cigarette and soda; and 716 S. Main St., Class ‘A’ beer, cigarette and soda.

Midwest Oil ordered to pay $140,000 in Minnesota gas price case

Midwest Oil of Minnesota has been ordered by the Minnesota Department of Commerce to pay a $140,000 civil penalty for charging too little for gasoline at three stations in the state.

The subsidiary of the Samanta Roy Institute for Science and Technology (SIST) was accused of violating the Unlawful Gasoline Sales Act, enacted in 2001, which prohibits retailers in the state from offering gasoline for sale at a price below cost.

“The record indicates 293 instances of below cost pricing and at least two failures to respond to the Department’s requests for information,” stated a memorandum from Department of Commerce deputy commissioner Kevin Murphy.

“Respondent’s violations are willful, continuing, and egregious and warrant a substantial penalty,” Murphy wrote.

A state administrative law judge recommended on Oct. 26 that the Minnesota Commissioner of Commerce take disciplinary action against Midwest Oil. That was followed by a period mandated to be at least 90 days during which the commissioner reviews the record and hears from both parties in the case.

The order was issued on Feb. 23. Midwest Oil has 30 days to contest the fine by requesting a hearing.

According to the order, the company’s own documentation showed 293 instances of selling gasoline below cost at its Budget Mart in Albert Lea, the Anoka Exxon and at Oakdale Exxon.

In addition to assessing the $140,000 fine, the order denied a motion filed in November by Midwest Oil for a new hearing before an administrative law judge.

“It is clear that Respondent had numerous opportunities to be heard,” Murphy wrote, “but fired its attorney on the eve of the hearing, then abandoned the hearing and failed to participate.”

Murphy wrote that the record of the case included “repeated delaying tactics by Respondent, including unsuccessful motions in Ramsey County District Court for a stay and a temporary restraining order.”

Midwest offered new evidence and arguments in a Nov. 28 letter, according to the memo, but it was too late to be included in the record, which was closed out on Oct. 25.

“The record in this case also indicates that Respondent Midwest Oil failed to respond to the Commerce Department’s request for information in March 2005, and failed to respond to the department’s administrative subpoena in April 2005,” both violations of state statutes, the memo stated.

In its Nov. 28 letter, according to the memo, Midwest argued that selling gasoline below cost was not sufficient to prove a violation.

“Rather, to constitute a violation of that provision, it is necessary that a sale below cost be coupled with the purpose or effect of injuring competitors and destroying competition,” the memo quotes the letter as stating.

However, Murphy wrote, two cases cited by Midwest in making the argument took place some 40 years before the Minnesota law in question was enacted.

“(T)he record indicates that respondent’s below-cost gasoline sales have damaged competitors in Anoka and Oakdale, causing the loss of as much as one third of their monthly sales,” Murphy wrote. “The record further indicates that because Respondent’s prices were so much lower than other retailers could legally charge, some customers concluded incorrectly that other retailers had been overcharging for gasoline.”

Minnesota’s gas price law is intended to prevent large oil companies from selling cheap gas in an effort to drive smaller competitors out of business. The state uses a formula based on wholesale prices, fees and taxes to determine the minimum price.

Midwest Oil of Shawano, LLC, which is also a subsidiary of SIST, won a victory over its gas prices in Wisconsin last year.

The 3rd District Court of Appeals in December ruled that Midwest Oil’s Mobil gas station was wrongly ordered to pay $2,000 to each of six competitors, plus attorney fees, after being accused of violating the state’s so-called minimum markup law.

The ruling overturned a decision by Shawano County Circuit Court Judge Thomas Grover, who found that Midwest Oil violated the law by failing to conduct a price survey of its competition every 24 hours.

Messages left for Isaacson and SIST attorney Rebekah Brown were not returned Wednesday afternoon.

A bizarre story links a purported “cult” leader from Wisconsin to an Orthodox Jewish school in Baltimore.

Affidavits filed in a Wisconsin court claim that R. C. Samanta Roy, formerly known as “Rama Behera,” is now using the name “Avraham Cohen” in Baltimore, Maryland reported the Shawano Leader.

“Dr. Avraham Cohen” was pictured on the Web site of Yeshivat Rambam and identified as “a neurosurgeon” that has pledged a half million dollars to the institution.

However, according to an affidavit filed in a Wisconsin lawsuit the man in the photo is actually R.C. Samanta Roy.

“I have known him for some time and recognize him in the picture,” states a member of the Shawano city commission in the affidavit.

Rebecca Gietman, Roy’s attorney stated, “No, Dr. Roy is not living in Maryland as a neurosurgeon. That allegation is completely false.”

The story about the doctor published within the Yeshivat Rambam’s newsletter does seem just a bit incredible.

“Dr. Cohen” supposedly grew up within a Jewish community in India. And his “family was in the import export business, trading products with the merchants on the islands of Java, Sumatra, and Borneo. He went into medicine and then went into the hospital business.”

The article was titled “A Shining Example.”

But R.C. Samanta Roy seems something less than a “shining example” according to his disaffected former followers that have said Roy’s influence caused “the disintegration of families” and that he was given to “frequent humiliating verbal attacks.”

One former Roy follower said, “It doesn’t have to be logical, it doesn’t have to make sense; Rama [also known as Roy] says so and that’s it.”

Maybe Roy beleives because he “says so” he is a member of a religious group and ”that’s it”? And not only is he “Jewish,” he is also a doctor, a “neurosurgeon” no less.

Former members also cite Roy’s “lack of consistency,” which perhaps explains the contradiction of a man that once led a group known as “The Disciples of the Lord Jesus,” claiming that he is an Orthodox Jew.

“Now I belong to a Jewish school and a Jewish community, Yeshivat Rambam,” he is quoted as saying, adding the school’s teaching stems from the Torah.

“I am so glad and feel so secure that my daughters will grow up here at Yeshivat Rambam and will become great women academically and mothers of Yisrael who will preserve our culture, our dignity, and our excellence.”

Former members have also said that Roy encouraged them to take “Jewish names,” perhaps his own adoption of the name “Cohen” is somehow part of that idiosyncratic practice.

Interestingly, after a photograph of “Cohen” was posted on the Ross Institute Web site subsection about Rama Behera protests were launched by both Roy’s attorney in Wisconsin and Yeshivat Rambam of Baltimore.

The Baltimore school claimed the photo was its property and could not be run without explicit permission, but subsequently provided no proof of intellectual property rights or copyright.

CultNews now runs the photo of both “Rama Behera,” also known as R. C. Samanta Roy, along with the one taken of “Dr. Cohen” with his two “daughters” in Baltimore.

Let readers judge if these photographs are of the same man.

But CultNews thinks they sure look like the same guy.

SHAWANO COUNTY - Amidst concerns about threats made against city officials in Shawano... there's been ongoing concern in Shawano County about how much land and how many businesses SIST owns in both the city of Shawano and the town of Wescott.

"They own businesses, they bought up a lot of property," said Woody Davis, Shawano's city council president.

According to land records kept by the Shawano County register of deeds, SIST owns dozens of properties-including gift shops, gas stations and a motel.

FOX 11 calculated the group owns approximately 355 acres plus about 37 city lots or blocks--totaling 76 separate parcels in the county.

Mike Schuler, Wescott's town chair, says he's had dealings with SIST regarding zoning and permits. He says the relationship is getting tougher because of SIST's financial problems.

"They do own a lot of properties in the area, they are behind on taxes, they are behind on payments, and things are just getting tight," said Schuler.

Right now-our review of county records shows the group is delinquent on about 80 percent of its holdings--owing approximately 271 thousand dollars in back taxes. According to county records, about $37,000 is owed on the AmericInn.

The group owes almost $70,000 on The Villager restaurant. SIST also runs three gas stations in the city of Shawano-and owes $13,600 dollars in taxes on them. The group's delinquencies date back to 2005 -- and after a waiting period required by law, the county can start taking action against SIST in January.

However, on the state revenue department's website listing of delinquent taxpayers...no listing of delinquencies could be found. SIST claims city officials concocted the story about the threat list so the city could steal $175,000 from the group and run the group's businesses out of town.

"The extra security measures, the metal detectors, police escort, and searches, are nothing but a ruse by Mayor Lorna Marquardt, City Administrator Jim Sstadler, Police Chief Ed Whealon and other city officials to conceal the city officials' illegal interference with SIST's financial and business affairs.

The Shawano County Register of Deeds says SIST's land parcels are listed under so many different names and entities, that one or more properties might have been missed.

NEW INFO: F.B.I.'s Shawano 'Hit List' Informant Speaks Out

A | A | A The Canadian man who brought an alleged Shawano ‘hit list’ to the F.B.I.'s attention wants his side of the story known. Today, someone is circulating a fax calling the man a ‘hit man’ and a terrorist.

The fax NewsChannel 7 received Monday afternoon claims the group police say is behind the list, the Samanta Roy Institute of Science and Technology, “is believed to be offering a $1 million reward to anyone who brings him to justice in the United States". Please note, it says “is believed to be offering a reward", and it's not been confirmed whether SIST was aware of this fax.

This document arrived without a cover letter or any information about its source. It identifies the F.B.I.’s informant, including his home and business addresses, and phone numbers.

So far, NewsChannel 7 has been unable to reach SIST’s attorney, Alan Eisenberg for comment on this fax, or whether SIST is, indeed, offering any reward. NewsChannel 7 has turned that document over to the F.B.I.

After news of the list and a Federal investigation broke last week, NewsChannel 7 received a call from that F.B.I. informant. He also received a copy of that fax today, which he believes puts a price tag on his head.

In the interest of protecting him, his family, and the ongoing F.B.I. investigation, we are not releasing his name at this time or any specifics about his business. SIST has identified him during news conferences and in a written statement, and the informant tells NewsChannel 7 his phone has been ringing off the hook ever since - and now he wants us to let the public know his side of the story.

He tells NewsChannel 7 he made authorities aware of his dealings with SIST from the beginning. He says although he did receive the list and a large sum of money, he never intended to kill or harm anyone. He says he simply saw this as an opportunity to get the money he claims SIST owed him from a past business venture. According to this informant, SIST wired tens of thousands of dollars to him. He says he then received the list and he forwarded it to police. He says he continues to cooperate with investigators.

In a 3-page document given to our Mikel Lauber by Naomi Isaacson and handed out by SIST members to residents on the streets of Shawano, SIST acknowledges this individual received $175,000 from them. But they claim it was part of a deal to loan SIST $10 million in return.

In the documents, SIST says this individual was hired by Shawano officials to rob them and claims the "hit list" was created by the city to divert the media's attention. During a news conference Friday, the Shawano Police Chief called SIST's claims ludicrous.

Jail Denies Accusations

The Brown County jail is defending itself against accusations that it mistreated Samanta Roy Institute of Science and Technology (SIST) CEO Naomi Isaacson, who was incarcerated at the jail on Green Bay's east side over the weekend.

SIST attorney Alan Eisenberg claims Isaacson, among other things, was being starved and tortured at the jail. After visiting with Isaacson on Sunday, Eisenberg told reporters his client appeared "weak" and "failing."

But jail administrator John Jadin today called that claim simply untrue and even inflammatory. "This morning, when she (Isaacson) walked out of jail, she was in very good condition." Jadin also claims that Isaacson, an Orthodox Jew, was never denied Kosher food as Eisenberg has insisted. Eisenberg even charged that the jail was being discriminatory against Isaacson, because of her religion. "This is because she's a Jew."

Jadin told reporters that claim is nonsense. "That's absolutely false. Religion has no basis." Jadin also said Eisenberg's comments overall were hurtful and could result in mistrust throughout the community.

Isaacson was released from jail Monday morning and turned over to federal authorities involving an apparent bench warrant issued in Maryland. Details of that case are still unclear.

SIST is the Shawano-based group police have said is behind implied threats against 60 members of the Shawano community, a claim SIST flatly denies.

This is not heresay, I live here and I personally know people that they owe money to. Also, how many gas stations do you know of that don't have gasoline for sale moe than half of the time?! The government is not always right, but feeling that you are exempt from paying your bills or paying your taxes, is just WRONG, especially when you do have the money.

Naomi Isaacson's lawyer was on the news tonight saying he's trying to decide how much to sue the Brown County Jail for, that the question isn't if, but how much.

I imagine suing the federal marshalls who hauled her out of there today will be next on their lawsuit list. The cult is constantly filing lawsuits against people and the government. It's online.

And they're constantly being sued by people they owe money to but refuse to pay.

Their dramas don't ever stop.

It does sound more and more like somebody in their organization did think they were hiring that Canadian to kill off the folks on their hitlist. I hope nobody goes kookoo from either side. Nobody should get hurt over all the bickering.

It's a very serious crime. And while I hoped/thought things would settle down, they aren't. The cult is ramping it up in every way they can think of.
