Re: Windows Vista..............WTF!!! AAAArrrrrrrggggg......Quote

I contacted DELL after reading all of this. I asked them if I could swap over my Vista for XP (my computer is only 6 months old still under warranty).
They said no because they couldn't guarantee that this computer 530S Inspiron could handle XP, it was designed for Vista... or something like that.
Can anybody here offer a comment on this?
If I removed Vista and replaced it with XP, do you think I would experience even more problems?

nah, you won't have any problems.

i've done it with all my families laptops and desktops...no problem.

and my customers at work also never experienced problems after switching from vista to xp.

the excuse that a vista pc will have problems with xp is nothing else then a way to sell more vista copies and nothing more...it's nonsense.

I actually just emailed DELL and said to them "OK, I understand, you cannot replace my vista with XP.... so then please come and collect this computer and give me a new one with XP already on it.
As my computer is still under warranty, I am entitled to have one that is able to perform and download updates.
My current computer cannot do this, due to Vista's problems.
So I am requesting a swap-over."

Fix that junkie pice of work that makes vista SUXXOR its called UAC

Launch regedit and navigate to:
HKLMSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionPoliciesSystem
Trap: When you navigate to : HKLMSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionPolicies
Beware, at first I overlooked the System sub folder.
The default value is : "ConsentPromptBehaviorAdmin" = dword:00000002.
This means: Display the UAC dialog box
Change to: "ConsentPromptBehaviorAdmin" = dword:00000000.
Setting the value of "ConsentPromptBehaviorAdmin" to zero bypasses the new UAC interface and the administrative task completes without further user interaction.
In Vista there is no need to even logoff, changes to "ConsentPromptBehaviorAdmin" are applied straight away. '

basically you change the dword values from a 1 and a 2 both to a 0 and presto VISTA SHUTS UP

the worst bullshit i've ever heard.

we administer and install xp systems on tens of thousands of machines and NEVER needed to do a reinstall after xp sp1.
after sp2 came out we had even less problems.

sp3 sucks though...just saying.

btw: i also never had to do a reinstall of my families laptops and desktops...they all first had xp sp1 and then xp sp2...no bluescreen, no nothing...not even a single crash.

my advice: stop slamming your hammer into your machines...then you won't have to do a reinstallchuckle

actually a wise move. from what i've heard from some of my customers dell and sometimes even HP will complain if people reformat, repartition and rewrite their master boot record as well as boot sector and do a clean install of xp on a machine that originally had vista on it.

the "secret" is that most big computer companies like dell and hp have contracts with m$ to sell/push out or force as many vista copies as possible...and m$ pays them for doing so.

money doesn't stink...you know...

good advice, but why have vista in the first place if life's easier with xp?

vista will never be as stable, secure and good as xp. and since vista, many people lost confidence in m$...sad but true.

ac 539331 seem to be quite knowledgeable. and i have to agree with 539331.

most people who complain about the "vista bashers" are lil' teen who only like that vista carp because it's the newest microsoft os and is more colorful and flashy then the other windows versions. that's the only reason young folks like it.

because they're teens, they'll get very upset and angry if somebody doesn't agree with em' that vista is "good" and "better" than any other os.

but the reality is, vista is utter bullshit...a LPODS.
