Shit on a Shingle (SOS)
Ground hamb or turkey (whatever you have)
Cream of mushroom soup
1 packet dry onion soup mix
grean beans
shredded cheese
The usual way is to cook your meat then add the cream of mush, dry onion soup mix, a little milk, green beans..mix it all together and put it in a casserole dish. i like to top it with parmasan and whatever shredded cheese on top...
If ya wanna be really wild though...toss some tator tots under the cheese and put the cheese on top...then bake it.
Serve it over toast and keep the ketchup nearby |

1/4 cup sour cream
6 slices of crispy bacon
1 small onion

Place the Velveeta cheese and chocolate chips in a large crock pot. Heat on low for approximately 1/2 hour. Crumble the bacon into small pieces. Dice the onion and peppers on a cutting board.
After the cheese and chocolate has completely melted, add the bacon, onions, and peppers. Pour in the sour cream and maple syrup. Mix thoroughly and cook for another hour on low.
Dip each pork rind into the fondue and place on a sheet of wax paper. Let the coated pork rinds cool. Dip each pork rind into the fondue again and repeat the procedure. Place the rinds into the freezer and serve chilled with anchovies.

find whatever's been killed on the side of the road as long as it doesn't smell too bad or have been picked over by scavengers. wash off the dirt and bug larvae unless you think it makes it taste better.
add to a pot of boiling water, pour ketchup (ketchup makes everything taste better) add carrots and potatos and onions and cook for 2 hours

flatten out canned biscuits. Roll a weenie up in them and bake. Dip in mustard to eat. Makes 12.
Breakfast: Tear up slices of bread into a bowl. Add milk and some sugar.
Lunch: Ketchup and mustard sandwiches.
Dinner: Hamburgers and tomato sauce. Fry hamburgers. Don't drain the grease and add tomato sauce and water. Serve with mashed potatoes so you can use the thin greasy tomato sauce stuff as gravy.
My recipe for beanie weenies is just like the one already posted, except I add some bbq sauce to it. You can't have a light without a dark to stick it in.

According to Nancy Rooks, Graceland's longtime cook, this was the last meal Elvis ate.
It's in The Presley Family Cookbook, a spiral-bound tome she wrote with Vester Presley, Elvis' uncle and a guard at Graceland for many years. It's heavy on meat and light on tomato sauce, and redolent of one of Elvis' favorite flavors: bacon!
1 (16-ounce) package spaghetti
1 ½ pounds ground chuck
½ cup chopped onion
1 teaspoon chopped garlic
Salt and pepper to taste
1 egg
1 tablespoon parsley flakes
3/4 cup bread crumbs
1/4 cup bacon grease
1/2 teaspoon butter-flavored salt
1 (8-ounce) can tomato sauce
2 cups tomato-vegetable juice
Grated parmesan cheese, optional
Bring a large pot of water to a boil and cook pasta according to package directions. Drain.
Mix ground chuck, onion, garlic, salt and pepper, then mix in egg, parsley flakes and bread crumbs. Form into balls and fry in batches in medium-hot bacon grease until browned on all sides.
Season spaghetti with butter-flavored salt, pepper, tomato sauce and tomato-vegetable juice. Add meatballs to spaghetti and cover pan; simmer over low heat. Sprinkle with parmesan cheese, if desired. Makes 8 servings.
That was yummy, but I seem to be

(can't get mo' white trash then this)
Ingredients
* 1 (18.25-ounce) box yellow cake mix, plus ingredients to prepare
* 1 (20-ounce) can crushed pineapple
* 1 1/3 cups sugar
* 1 (3.4-ounce) box French vanilla pudding, plus ingredients to prepare
* 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
* 1 cup flaked, sweetened toasted coconut
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Prepare yellow cake mix as directed using a greased 13 by 9 by 2-inch pan and bake for 30 to 35 minutes. While cake is baking, combine the pineapple and 1 cup of sugar in a saucepan, and bring to a boil over medium heat stirring constantly. Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly.
Remove cake from oven and using a fork, pierce holes into cake. Pour pineapple mixture over hot cake and set aside.
Prepare pudding according to package directions. Spread pudding over cake and refrigerate until thoroughly chilled. Whip heavy cream and remaining sugar until stiff. Cover top of cake with whipped cream and sprinkle toasted coconut on top.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
I never use heavy whipping cream. Cool Whip is much quicker and as WT as you can get
Think it's time to make another one. Times are getting depressing now
PS I don't use toasted coconut. I just get the regular old bag of white coconut. Mix 1/2 the bag in the Cool Whip (for the frosting) Then I sprinkle the rest of the coconut on the top Highway to Hell |

One Sarah Lee pound cake. Get the big one.
Have on hand some white Creme de Cacao and green Creme de Menthe.
2 regular size bricks of cream cheese.
Slice the cake lengthwise four to six times, according to preference, sharpness of knife and skill. Stir the cream cheese with one of each of the liqueurs till it is spreadable like an icing. Alternate between layers of cake with the green and white. Save some to top it off as an icing - or cover it with Cool Whip! Keep it chilled. Very good for hot weather. |

United States 11/20/2008 5:33 PM | | Re: FUN THREAD: Your favorite White Trash recipe, post it here!!! | Quote | REAL MAC AND CHEESE (You'll never go back to Kraft boxed shit after tasting this!)
Cook 4 cups of classic "maccaroni" pasta in salted boiling water. If you'd normally cook it for eight minutes, cut the time down to six minutes. In other words you don't want it cooked completely. . . like close but not quite there. A dente' if you know what it means. (Italian for "to the tooth")
Drain pasta and set aside for a while: Take a 9 x 11 baking pan and lightly oil it with olive oil if you have it. Veggie oil if you don't...
Sauce:
Melt 4 tablespoons of butter in a saucepan on LOW heat. When the butter is melted and beginning to sizzle, slowly add in 4 tablespoons of white flour. Stir constantly and cook the white flour/butter mixture until it begins to brown. (NOTE: it is important that it begin to brown or the sauce will taste like flour later!)
WHEN the mixture is a light golden brown, slowly add in three and a half cups of whole milk, stirring constantly. Mixture will begin to thicken as the milk warms. Add in 1 cup of your favorite cheese, grated. I use a combo of Cheddar and Jack. But almost any yellow cheese will do. Keep stirring until all the cheese is melted. Add in 1/2 teaspoon of WHITE pepper finely ground. One dash of tabasco sauce (or two if you like it a little spicier) and adjust the thickness by adding a little more milk if needed. It should be the consistency of thick creme. Able to pour easily but thickened...
Final assembly and baking:
Put the pasta in a 9x12 baking dish, pour the cheese sauce over it. Sprinkle to top with seasoned breadcrumbs, cover with foil and bake in a medium (350 degree) over for about 1 hour. At the 45 minute point, remove the foil and allow the breadcrumbs on the top to get a golden brown which will take most of the remaining 15 minutes or a little more.
Remove from oven and serve hot. Classic real Mac and Cheese. None of the phony boxed shit and this is both faster and cheaper too! Also, you know what's in it, vs some bunch of chemicals that Kraft Foods swears won't harm you, much.
Good served as a side dish, or you can add a couple of slices of thick sliced bacon on the top, cris-crossed and call it an entree' if you like. It's classic white trash cooking done right!
Store in the fridge covered, after the first meal on it. It's better the 2nd day, and can be reheated in the microwave for single servings fast! |

All bread must be of the Wonder variety, of course.
One slice white bread, butter, brown sugar. Better than a store bought candy bar.
Ants on a log. Celery, peanut butter raisins.
Broiled cheese sandwiches(pre-nucrowave era) - one slice white bread, one slice pasteurized processed american cheese food product. Place in oven under broiler until cheese is melted. Charred cheese is almost as good as charred marshmallow.
Jello with itty bitty marshmallows and anything else in it. Like green jello, with carrot shreds, or red jello with mandarin oranges.
Tuna buns - tuna salad and cheese in hot dog buns - wrap in foil and broil until piping hot. Unwrap one end and eat while still in foil.
Lots of tomato soup and soda crackers.
Some of my Dad's favorites:
Bacon, Scrambled eggs, and canned spinach. Not mixed together, just a portion of each on the plate. I swear we had to have this about once a week because he liked it so much. Great color as you have the red bacon, the bright yellow eggs, and the dark green spinach.
Peanut butter and onion sandwich - again, two slices of white bread, peanut butter to taste, one or two 1/4- 1/2" thick slices of raw onion.
Liver and onions. That was another regular that I couldn't stand as a kid, but like just fine now.
That "shit on a shingle" stuff is universal. Mom called it "gravy-looly. Take any kind of meat, like left over, turkey, chicken, whatever, mix it will the approprate canned soup, to turn it into a gravy. Toast up a bunch of wonder bread. Place toast on plate and cover with the gravy looly.
Mom used to make what she called "Spanish Rice"(hated it_
Of course use minute rice, and then stir in some kind of seasoning packet and heat for a while. The rice turned orange and had kind of a funny flavor. BTW, there was no such thing as "Mexican" food when I was little. Completey unheard of up here in the great white north back in the 50's. |
