I had spent the day sewing...waiting for kids to come home from school....and when they did, they told me that the President had been shot...I said oh, you studied Lincoln today...they said no, that President Kennedy had been shot...it was the beginning of a nightmare...the neighborhood stood around that night commiserating with one another, trying to understand, not wanting to believe it was true, and yet having no options..Not something a person is likely to forget...
