Yep, and once in a while a six-mile rock comes down, and the impact creates tsunamis thousands of feet in height that scour all the coastlines clean while bathing the planetary surface in flaming ejecta and frying mostly everything. And that too has happened for billions of years and will continue to do so even if one drops on us this week and wipes us all out. Not sure what your point was.
