i know they can track the towers the phone uses...but tracing the phone down to a small area would be difficult i would think
Quoting: Mr Hupt 529821Triangulation amongst three or more towers is remarkably accurate. If signal delay timing is also measured, which is the principle behind LORAN, locating can be within a hundred yards or less. Whether the tower feeds have the technology hooked in to do this I have no info. I don't think it would be very expensive to construct. Been a LORAN and RADAR technical engineer with FCC license since 1971.
