PENG User ID: 1159762 United States 01/25/2013 10:42 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I am not even remotely surprised that you geocache...and how cool that you do. I hope you leave interesting artifacts behind for others. When walking in the woods, I find things. I also will sometimes move things to places they could not logically have gotten there. Sometimes, I bet that people see them and think, "Now how the heck did that get there!" That's a way a person lost in the woods can leave signs for others to deliberately track them. See Tom Brown Jr. In Shawshank Redemption, which is based upon a Stephen King novella, the hero places a stone of obsidian (volcanic glass) on a rock wall in Maine, and it has "no Earthly reason for being there". It's a clue for his friend to discover to find a treasure of money. [link to en.wikipedia.org] When I was young and read that, I thought, I've been doing that since I was nine years old! How cool! I do. :) I had a coin made also, with my sig on it. Most appropriate for caching don't you think? Have you ever visited cemeteries and placed small rocks on gravestones? I learned about this when I was caching in Savannah at the cemetery where the Bird Lady statue used to be, from the book Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. Very old place. It was the first time I had ever seen rocks on the grave stones. I think it's a Jewish tradition? I like this idea of geocaching... never heard of it... Nature boy on a boat?! You have to be kidding me. It's the best kept secret thousands know about. And it's all over the world. I've had a Travel bug go all the way to Afghanistan and back. He stayed in many Bug Motels. :) "May the road rise up to meet you.... May the wind be always at your back..." |

See: [link to books.google.com] Who can know if it's the origin of the custom, but it is a Jewish cultural ritual. Since YHWH (or Adonai for my Jewish friends since they would say I blaspheme by using the name of God), means I am who I am, then God is BEING. When we be with others, that's called the theology of being present with others, particularly in their suffering. See: [link to www.haltonpres.org] As such, you can easily see how leaving a token which indicates someone was present at that place of intement of their physical remains is a form of being present with them, even though their soul has departed. Yep. And that's truly what I feel. I don't know why it's touching to me, but I'll sit and just think of their lives...what they were like, how it was for them. Then I'll leave a rock. The microchaches can be a bitch! Some are the size of your pinky finger. Some caches have junk in them and we upgrade them. I like to put survival stuff in them. Caches rank from 1 to 5, with 5 the most difficult.... Like scuba diving caches. Lol. Fox did a planet of the apes cache years ago where they put props from the movie in them. Cachers went nuts. Lol. Not sure if this link works, it's on 125 here or another thread (can't remember) in my images. So this is less that ten miles from me and I had no idea. The pic doesn't do it justice. It was a dry spell. So I park in this Cemetary and there is this foot trail that goes about 3/4 mile back and wham, there it is. There are no other waterfalls around. Just deep back in the middle of no where. The cache was hidden in the top left. Just a few people hanging around. Very cool. [link to img341.imageshack.us] "May the road rise up to meet you.... Dangerwalt is quite kind and considerate; it was unintentional. Re" thyroids and gaining weight. The thyroid controls metabolism and the burning of calories, and as such often results in either Hypothyroidism and weight gain or Hyperthyroidism and weight loss. It'm sure you're supplementing with Synthroid, a synthetic thyroid hormone, and so it might need to be adjusted. A thyroid is like a drop of hormone in a olympic pool of water, that's the most common medical analogy, and therefore hormone replacement is fraught with difficulty in making a similar very precise miniscule release of hormone. I hope things work out. No bone issues I hope? The parathyroid glands (4) are located on the thyroid and get excised during thyroid removable depending upon your cancer and the skill of the surgeon plus realistic assessment from the the pathologist on the margins of the tumor. Vesper33 User ID: 25919604 United States 01/26/2013 12:25 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I took this pic with my computer a couple days ago. It is the first new pic I have taken in a year or so. I refuse to do any body pic's until I get this weight off. I had a thyroid tumor and put on tons of weight, trying to get it off now. I am 49 looking at the big 50 in August, plus my oldest son is getting married in September, and I want to look good for the wedding. :) I know vanity is a sin.....I am working on it. Lol. Quoting: Vesper33 BYOO-TEE-FULL :) Ain't no shame in wanting to look your best, good luck! Thank you!!! Now the question is are you single? I've decide to play matchmaker for CalmShock and DontBeAfraid. Although Calmshock might lose out as he is slaughtering is liver right now. Ha, ha......that's great!!! Yes, I am single, but I am that way intentionally. I decided a few years ago to take a mini-sabbatical from dating and relationships. I needed to heal from my health issues, and I wanted to be alone for a while. I was thinking maybe in the fall I might venture back out into the world. I could use a little fun.
