Got both grandmas living with me this year, one's barely there (alzheimers, with about a 15 second memory span, and retina's pretty much pulled off the back of her eye, so she's all but blind), and the other's had a number of really minor strokes, so while she's physically okay, she's a veritable mental train-wreck most of the time.
Doesn't help what's left of my already dicey holiday spirit...add in the usual insane family members, shake and stir...lol
Ah well, just have to do a little clean-up now, and remove decorations in a couple days, and back to the same ol', same ol'...
Actually, it's not as bad as that sounds, I'm just not much of a holiday person, and this year's been interesting, because everybody's just here because they're supposed to be, and because it might be the last time with both the current grandmas. Has more of the "chore" feeling than fun holiday spirit to it this year than others in the past.
Quoting: falldownI admire you for caring for your family. They are lucky to have you also. This will sound strange but enjoy your grandmas while you have them. I never knew my grandparents, and always missed that. Plus, you will know in your heart you did the right thing. My small (3) family all has health problems, and I see that I will be left alone soon. It sucks.
