LOL star of betlehem! my friend said that too. It looks so bright..and getting brighter..as if it's getting closer. I remember somewhere reading that Nibiru is actually Venus. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 489933 United States 12/29/2008 01:16 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Venus rises so far above the horizon but never goes across the sky. It then travels back down towards the horizon and in about six months comes up in the East (if it was up in the West persay) and does the same thing. So does Mecury because both planets are closer to the Sun than the Earth is. If it twinkles it is a star, if it does not, then it is a planet while looking at it. Mercury will never rise as high as Venus above the horizon, because it is closer to the Sun than Venus is. Both will never go across the sky like Jupiter will, but Jupiter and Venus will look similiar except that Venus is usually brighter because the orbit of Jupiter brings it closer to the Earth but only when it gets closer because of its orbit. Mars is that way also, as it gets closer to the Earth every 15-17 years and it was the closest to the Earth again just a couple years back or so. Mars gets closer in its orbit every two years, but it gets even close (35 million miles at the closest to Earth) every 15-17 years. You proabably saw Venus because just a couple or month ago, all three were in the same vicinity of the sky in the West. Jupiter was fairly bright, while the Moon was over to the West further and Venus was the more Westward and nearer to the Horizon to the West- Southwest. A planet will not twinkle no matter how the sky is at night, cloudy or not. If you can see the planet and it is not too cloudy to block it out, then it will never ever twinkle, only stars will. |

Also is the fact that Venus is showing a crescent phase right now could make a lens distort it into a cross. If Venus is this bright in a crescent, imagine how bright if it could be this close in a full phase? And, yes, Venus can be seen in the daytime, but it is only a tiny dot of light. You will have to know approximately where it should be in the daytime sky to see it. Kletos, Eklektos & Pistos |

Unplugged User ID: 596140 Australia 01/28/2009 12:46 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | >Venus rises so far above the horizon but never goes across >the sky. While most of your post is correct, that bit is not quite true. You may not *see* it go across the sky because it is close to the Sun. Normally you can only see it pre/at dawn, or, like now during/after dusk. At other times it will be too close to the Sun and lost in glare. But when the Sun crosses the sky, Venus crosses *with* it - so it *does* go across the sky. It is difficult, but possible to see Venus in the daytime sky *if* it is a reasonable distance away from the Sun, and you know where to look. |

Venus is closer to the sun than the earth ~ therefore, can never be opposite the sun from Earth's view ~ hence it is called a morning or evening star. Jupiter is seen in the NIGHT TIME sky ~ and it is appearing in the south west for the majority of the night. Hope this helps. :DJrebelli: |

Messenger User ID: 137750 United States 01/28/2009 01:15 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | BEWARE of this false "Christ." I feel he is on his way!!! On 12 December 2008 Share International distributed a news release announcing that in the very near future a large, bright star will appear in the sky visible throughout the world, night and day. Around a week later Maitreya will give his first interview on major US television. Since early January 2009 sightings of the starhave been reported from Norway, South Africa, the United States,Dubai and Qatar. More and more sightings are now expected.Reports have already appeared in Norwegian newspapers. A new article by Benjamin Creme’s Master, who is based in the Himalayas, reveals how close we are to witnessing this sign and the historic events which will follow. Maitreya’s first interview will lead to further and more frequent interviews in the USA, Japan and other countries. Maitreya’s first interview In the very near future, people everywhere will have the opportunity to witness an extraordinary and significant sign, the like of which has been manifested only once before, at the birth of Jesus. Then, according to Christian teaching, a star appeared in the heavens and led three wise men from the East to the birthplace of Jesus. Soon, once again, a star-like luminary of brilliant power will be seen around the world. What does this mean? How is it possible? The answer lies in the fact that this mysterious event is a sign, and heralds the beginning of Maitreya’s open mission. Soon after the sign appears in our skies, Maitreya will give His first media interview on American television. |

Quoting: Idunno 23529471 Jupiter is the one that's been brightening all of our nights for the last week, the one nearest the moon. Umm, no. You obviously don't watch the skies much, or you'd know that the moon isn't stuck in the same place every night. If you're seeing something bright in the sky you think isn't Jupiter, then where is it in relation to Jupiter? Where is it in the sky - i.e. what bearing, what elevation, and at what time are you seeing it? As usual, vague claims and no information... |
