The only place that will be livable will be the tropics. But after a few years (maybe a couple hundred or thousand) the places covered in ash will be rich farmlands. So either move to the jungle of south america, or die those are your choices. I will probably go with, die. |

You can collect the residue for fresh drinking water; Make sure you process human waste properly; urine can be used to help the plants grow. Faeces need breaking down in a bacterial tank. Basically turn your home into a self-sufficient eco-system. The dust would clear eventually and the sun will be visible again. It would mark the dawn on a new era. |

Get some kind of wood buring stove. Rake the ash off of your roof. So things I can think of off the top of my head. Yellowstone eruption would be the worst disaster in human history. Tens of Millions maybe even billions would die. However the human race would survive. We survived the Toba Super Volcanic Eruption 70,000 years ago and that was the largest volcanic event in the last 25 million years. Toba was much greater then any of the Yellowstone Caldera eruptions. Back then we were hunter gatherers who had practically no long term food storage. |

Granted, if it's "the big one", apparently there is little or no chance of survival for any of the life on Earth. Not much anyone can do, short of leaving the planet. Quoting: How To Prepare? 401714So. Let's say Yellowstone blows, but it's not "the big one". It's bad, but just short of an ELE event. How does one prep for something like that? I've got a good supply of basic preps (several months' worth of food, water, guns/ammo, lots of survival/camping-type gear, etc.), but what else should be done? I can't even get my brain wrapped around something of that magnitude. You can get your brain wrapped around it if Jesus is your savior. Now don't tune out! Here's how it works: when you have an eternal perspective instead of a 80 year perspective, you don't worry. When you KNOW you will live on, you feel relief. When you know that no matter what, things will end up perfect and great, you don't worry. Truly, if I wasn't saved now I would be going insane. There is too much happening to process it all, too many horrible tings happening, most of which we are doing to each other. Girl dies in cold on forced walk? Santa shooting people? Faking the holocaust story? Man oh man, this is terrible. But when you understand sin, you understand it all. And you feel fine! Peace. "From that time Jesus began to preach and say, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand." Matthew 4:17 |

Dread Pirate Roberts User ID: 579830 United States 12/30/2008 05:28 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | how do you prepare for this? I do not know...but the bible says things like this will happen: a third of all grass and trees will die, and a third of all waters will become bitter and kill the sea life in it... What happened during the last eruption of a super volcano? The last eruption of a super volcano was in Toba, Sumatra, 75,000 years ago. It had 10,000 times the explosive force of Mount St. Helens and changed life on Earth forever. Thousands of cubic kilometres of ash was thrown into the atmosphere - so much that it blocked out light from the sun all over the world. 2,500 miles away 35 centimetres of ash coated the ground. Global temperatures plummeted by 21 degrees. The rain would have been so poisoned by the gasses that it would have turned black and strongly acidic. Man was pushed to the edge of extinction, the population forced down to just a couple of thousand. Three quarters of all plants in the northern hemisphere were killed. We can halfway predict the weather, but we have so little experience with volcanoes and earthquakes. :-( I hope you're right, though. |

Toba blew 75000 years ago with similar force to the last time Yellowstone went big, that was not an ELE then either. How do you prepare for a VEI 8 eruption? you dont, you couldnt possibly stock enough food/water or anything else to survive for the Ice age that would follow. You would rely on handouts from whatever was left of the government which wouldnt be much, just enough to get by. Yellowstone has erupted 70,000 years ago without going VEI 8 so it is possible that any future eruption would be the same. They need pockets of humans to survive to re-establish society after a cataclysmic event. These films give lots of good advice/ideas/info on what to do. Most will think this is BS, but I'm afraid it's true. Most of the big hollywood directors are high up in Freemasonry and are priveleged to a lot of information that the average joe doesn't get to know about. |
