I saw a picture of him on the news lastnight, and honestly the same question crossed my mind, OP.

Maybe he was autistic?

Rumor had it that Jett had autism which, in the cult of RL Hubbard is a HUGE disgrace and shame.

Going off pictures and film snips of Jett, he does show 2 big symptoms classic of autism; toe walking and failure to establish eye contact.

My heart breaks for the parents. They are likey to get ZERO support from the cult. After all, in the eyes of the Hitler that runs the crap now, Jett was damaged goods utterly packed with bad "thetans".

I pray that maybe now, the Travolta family will have the courage to leave the clam bake.

Watching the footage...I'd say yes.
His father held his hand all the way to their car.
The bodyguard/assistant (?) fastened his seatbelt for him.
He kept scratching his head and his face held no expression.

I'd say autism is a good guess.

Re: Did Jett Travolta have a down syndrome ?
He was autistic, but John and Kelly will deny to the bitter end that he was. Scientologist believe it's degrading to label a person and put the blame on toxins and metals. They are probably right. Autism has become an epidemic.

Scientology doesn't recognize autism. If you have a child like Jett, you can easily see it. Jett walked on his toes, didn't like noise and was rarely seen out in public. John believes Kawasaki caused his son's condition and Jett went through a detox program through Scientology. Obviously, it didn't work. There's much more to this, but I'd like to say, children are born with Asperger's Syndrome. It doesn't come later in life at the age of 2 or 3. Some of the greatest minds had Asperger's Syndrome.

Autism, not Asperger's Syndrome, can be caused from toxins, metals, vaccines and everything else out there. Jett's detox program through Scientology didn't cure Jett of his condition. I think John believed Kawasaki Syndrome(too much shampooing of carpets) was the sole reason for his son's condition.

It's unreal how many people on earth have some form of autism. It's not as noticable with girls. It's acceptable for girls to be shy and quiet.

I don't think he had Downs, I do think he suffered brain damage from Seizure activity in the brain. My son recently went blind in one eye because of a seizure and has suffered from epilepsy for awhile. The med options are horrible and do a great deal of damage as well.

Hot showers or baths are a known triggers for seizure activity.

Re: Did Jett Travolta have a down syndrome ?
No, Jett did not have Down Syndrome. There are certain characteristics of a person with Down Syndrome.

Down syndrome, Down's syndrome, or trisomy 21 is a chromosomal disorder caused by the presence of all or part of an extra 21st chromosome. It is named after John Langdon Down, the British doctor who described the syndrome in 1866. The disorder was identified as a chromosome 21 trisomy by Jérôme Lejeune in 1959. The condition is characterized by a combination of major and minor differences in structure. Often Down syndrome is associated with some impairment of cognitive ability and physical growth as well as facial appearance. Down syndrome in a baby can be identified with amniocentesis during pregnancy or at birth.

Individuals with Down syndrome tend to have a lower than average cognitive ability, often ranging from mild to moderate developmental disabilities. A small number have severe to profound mental disability. The incidence of Down syndrome is estimated at 1 per 800 to 1,000 births, although these statistics are heavily influenced by the age of the mother. Other factors may also play a role.

Many of the common physical features of Down syndrome also appear in people with a standard set of chromosomes. They may include a single transverse palmar crease (a single instead of a double crease across one or both palms, also called the Simian crease), an almond shape to the eyes caused by an epicanthic fold of the eyelid, upslanting palpebral fissures (the separation between the upper and lower eyelids), shorter limbs, poor muscle tone, a larger than normal space between the big and second toes, and protruding tongue. Health concerns for individuals with Down syndrome include a higher risk for congenital heart defects, gastroesophageal reflux disease, recurrent ear infections, obstructive sleep apnea, and thyroid dysfunctions.

Did Jett have a form of Autisim? Possibly. I did note one tell tale sign in a photo and that was that he seemed to walk on his tippy toes. Autisim is such a broad spectrum disorder and there are different types. He was obviously mentally disabled in some capacity. What his diagnosis was is none of our business. If his parents wanted the public to know, they would tell us. I am certain they knew exactly what was wrong with Jett and dealt with it to the best of their ability. It was obvious his parents adored him and he was not the least bit neglected.

Seizure disorders are very difficult to live with for the person with the disorder and for the family. You live in a constant state of worry. Depakote was the med that Jett had been on, the one his parents chose to take him off of because it was no longer working. You can build up a resistance to seizure meds and they will no longer prevent seizures. A article pointed out that John and Kelly had met with a Neurologist and decided that taking him off was the best course of action as it was no longer helping. In drug therapy for seizure patients, especially in children, the harsh side effects are a major consideration in the therapy course. If they stop working, they are usually taken off the meds while other options are considered. Surgery or different medications just naming a few.

I am really at a loss for words when I read the horrible posts some of you have written. Some so cruel and others just uneducated. I am a firm believer in Karma. Those of you who posted the horrible, mean things will get yours.

My thoughts and love are with Kelly and John as they would be with any parent who lost a child.

There is one thing to question the manner of his death, it is quite another to be disrespectful to a deceased child. Those calling the child a retard should be ashamed of yourself. I hope you arent in the same position as his parents one day.

yes, that silly scientology (which i was a member of for 2mo. then they gave me my $ back) does think that they ARE IT and that's it---just watch the arrogance of tom cruise w/ matt lauer, cruise thinks his ability to overcome dyslexia is ONLY due to scientology-- in his case, most certainly--he's not smart enough to even think there are other possibilities. to him a feat was conquered and that miracle was one and one thing only HUBBARD!! i surely hope they don't get rid of (what they believe) human garbage.

Einstein and Newton didn't have vaccines or shampooed carpet. This is why I believe there's a difference in Autism and Asperger's Syndrome. Some of the greatest minds have been eccentric people that had odd behavior. It's a myth that Einstein wasn't good at math. Math was his favorite subject. His difficulty was the German language and his teacher thought he couldn't be taught. He didn't start speaking, until a late age and he WAS a genius. He spent hours as a child building a house of cards. So reminds me of my son.

Thanks,

Temporal lobe epilepsy is a journey. The brain charges up electricity and then releases. We opted not to medicate with conventional treatments as they really don't provide any relief, and the side effects are horrible.

As parents you just have to learn to live with the fear and be cautious to every degree possible. Many cases are a one or a two time deal and you may not have a seizure for 20 more years. There are no known causes that I can find, and in speaking with Neurologists they have about the same summary.
