GLPFAQ How to quote another poster, or multiple posters.
Quote

How to quote another poster, or multiple posters.

To quote a single post, click the Quote button in the upper right corner of the reply you wish to quote.

This will open a reply page with the previous poster's full text already in quote brackets.

It's considered good net etiquette to edit very long posts down to the relevant portion you are responding to, which saves everyone else from scrolling past the same lengthy post multiple times in a thread.

Also, it is generally easier to follow if you post your response below the quote, as opposed to above it.

How to include quotes from multiple posts.

Right click the Quote button on each reply you wish to quote, then open in a new tab or window.

Next, click on the reply to thread button at the bottom of the thread to which you are replying.

This will open a standard blank reply page.

Then, you can copy and paste each quote from the other tabs or windows into your reply.

If you wish to place text from another source into a highlighted quote box, you can type out the quote code manually as follows, minus the periods.

[.quote:user XYZ.] text you wish to quote [./quote.]

think you might be just typing your parts into the quoted section...instead, break up the quote you want to address with the corresponding open quote, close quote string and put your parts in between.

hard to explain, i guess.
