Simple but entrenched blasphemies against God

3. That God demands a sacrifice before God can grant forgiveness. If your child breaks a lamp, you don't require him to kill the neighbor's cat before you can forgive him. In the same way, God never needed a sacrifice of Jesus or anyone else before God will grant forgiveness.

4. That the Bible is God's word. The Bible is man's word. It even says so. Several of Paul's letters start with "Yo homies it's Paul..." Why would God write that?

5. Revelations is not a book of prophecy and it's not a book about the future. The last book of the Bible, known in its proper name as "The Apocalypse of John," is about the salvation of one single soul - John of Patmos. The Apocalypse is salvation. Every time a soul is saved, the world ends.

I agree with each and every one of your observations, and I offer the following comment with respect to the Christian assertion that the Bible is the word of God.

I have studied various versions of the Bible for over fifty years, and have found the book to be nothing mere than a badly written compilation of geographical and historical inaccuracies, scientific absurdities, incoherent dreams and visions, mystic symbolism, confusing theologies, filthy vulgarities, unimaginable brutalities, unfulfilled prophecies and hundreds of self contradictions (thousands if comparisons are made of purported direct quotations). The ultimate act of blasphemy is to ascribe such garbage to the Perfect Being.

I once was a Bible believing Christian; a baptized, born again, glory halleluiah-ing, Jesus-is-coming Christian. And then I read the Bible, really read it for the very first time. I was about twelve years old, and I found contradiction after contradiction in the book. I have been researching it ever since, and I am amazed that there could even be a single human being who could read it cover to cover and still accept it as being the complete, inspired and inerrant word of God.

But perhaps I'm wrong. Perhaps I misinterpret the divine words which proclaim that man was made in the image and likeness of God. Perhaps, we really are somehow like this Old Testament God. This would logically mean, of course, that He is somehow like us: less than perfect at all times and absolutely ignorant and unscrupulous on occasions; a fallible God for a fallible humanity. I am willing, therefore, to consider that the Bible is the word of God if Christians are willing to admit their God is nothing more than a miscreant of below-average intelligence, and questionable morality. The Bible: the imperfect works of an imperfect being.

Perhaps the ultimate absurdity is that Christians cannot agree among themselves what the Bible says. They proclaim that God is not the author of confusion, but they unwittingly live their lives proving that He is.

OK, I'm done ranting.
