Fresh Turkish Provocations in the Aegean
Just for your information.

On 3.19pm today (an hour ago that is), 8 turkish fantom aircrafts entered again the Greek airspace and flew low over the island of Samos in the norteast aegean.

This new tense in the area, started some days ago and still goes on, as every day we have greek airspace violations by Turkish millitary planes.

yesterday
(ANA-MPA) A Greek gunboat and military helicopter were harassed by a Turkish patrol boat and a pair of Turkish F-16 jetfighters near the islands of Farmakonissi and Agathonissi in the Aegean on Wednesday morning, and foreign minister Dora Bakoyannis immediately gave instructions for the relevant demarches to be lodged with the neighboring country.

(the gunboat and helicopter went there after a phonecall that there was a boat approaching the area filled with illegal immigrants. This turned out to be false info and greek inteligence say the call came from turkey)

Athens, 7 January 2009
Statement of FM Bakoyannis regarding Turkish actions in the Farmakonisi-Agathonisi area

“The Turkish actions in the Farmakonisi-Agathonisi area are unacceptable.
They are in blatant violation of international law and hamper the efforts being made to improve Greek-Turkish relations. I have instructed that the appropriate demarches be made.”

the whole story
Fresh tension arises in the Aegean
Turkish message to Greek pilots over Farmakonisi raises concern in Athens, as president stands firm

The alarm was raised in Greece when, on New Year’s Eve, Turkish air defense control communicated with Greek helicopters via the wireless and asked them to leave the area because they were violating Turkey’s national air space.
Greece and Turkey have a longstanding territorial dispute over the Aegean. Turkey insists Greek air space extends only 10 kilometers offshore, not 16 kilometers as Greece maintains.
The demand from the Turkish side on December 31 led to an immediate visit by General Dimitris Grapsas, the chief of National Defense General Staff, and army Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Dimitris Voulgaris to the island, as well as to the nearby islet of Kalolymnos.

I don't like turks, and the way they try to influence the internal affears in neighbouring country.

Re: Fresh Turkish Provocations in the Aegean
well I dont think this is some serious threat, at least not for now. We have these kind of provocations every now and then, I could say we are quite used to it. But it is still annoying.
