Why does my phone have an echo when I use it? | |
Winningjob User ID: 385114 United States 01/18/2009 11:15 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Generally if you hear an echo, my experience is that someone is listening besides the other party. For example, when you call companies or bill collectors/telemarketers...you can hear the echo as someone is monitoring them to make sure they are doing what they are supposed to do. Cell phones and hand helds are the easiest to pick up and/or monitor even neighbors. Landlines are a little different. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 589540 United States 01/18/2009 11:36 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | THIS SOUNDS WEIRD BUT: I swear a few times I've talked on the phone and very faintly I heard at the end of the phone call after I said goodbye a man and a woman commenting on what I just said like they were listening and talking to each other about the phone call. In the movies when there is phone tapping, it's usually just one person listening or recording, not two people talking about the phone call. It has happened on my landline. |

You could speak to the Security guys listening: "Hey government! Your tap is causing interference. Can't you do a better job?" I got a friend who does that during our conversations when there are noises on the line. Odd coincidence is the noises always stop right afterward. Like Henry Kissinger said: "Even paranoids have enemies." Cell phones can be turned on to broadcast voices nearby even when the phone is turned off. Government calls doing that a "Roving Wiretap" |

tomorrow User ID: 591566 United States 01/18/2009 11:42 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I was on the phone a couple weeks ago to cancel a service. There was an echo. When I commented on it, the clerk said to hold on, she could try something to fix it. It went away when she came back, and I said that I didn't know they could do that. She said something about troubleshooting, I think. It went away so I thought nothing of it afterward. Monitoring software is a possibility. They might have been able to determine what kind of phone I was using and switch to the correct software. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 587970No, not my expertise. However, that still does not change the fact that people are monitored and have been since Lincoln. Some for training and quality purpose! Actually, you might remember when Clinton changed the law...don't you? BTW, if you thought I was taking a jab at you..I wasn't. I am saying when you are investigating NASA and the government and other governments and trying to get responses and clips for things, they DO LOOK INTO YOU. Even though already broken on Prime Time, try researching The Greenbrier and see if you do not get someone calling you. |

iteration User ID: 570595 United States 01/18/2009 11:53 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Why does everyone seem to think that the second their phone starts acting weird it's the government? As stated before, phones do weird things. Being paranoid about it is weirder. If the government is all knowing and all powerful, you wouldn't know about the tap or would be able to do anything about it anyway. |
