You are getting good info here
Congratulations on sprouting your tree! It is wonderful to me to see someone first getting excited about the Joys of growing living plants
Myself I have apple, cherry, pear grapefruit, orange and lemon as well as several maple oak and cedar etc all in planters so far since I am still seeking where I want to settle into.
More why I am posting is to tell you that I have a small porcelain ceramic 'tray' perhaps from a tea service set - that when I eat whatever has keepable seeds, I put the seeds on the tray to dry out Then I have empty mayo and peanut butter jars that I cleaned in order to keep my seeds in clean dry cool storage. I also have empty prescription bottles that I keep seeds like strawberry and grape seeds in
I am the type that could have a thousand acres and still be looking for where I might plant something more. One summer I grew over a thousand African Violets from seeds that I pollinated myself. At one point I had over 600 blooming on the front porch and yard all at once. They were real easy to give away, so many people stopped to look at them.
I do have a great green thumb and I am conjecturing that after the shit hits the fan and blows to wherever it goes and settles on the ground and becomes the compost for whatever comes next that I can produce massive amounts of cool seedlings to use as barter!
Problem is you dont know what type of fruit your seed has been pollinated with and what kind of quality hybrid fruit your tree will give. So to me it would make sense to plant a dozen or so when you plant. Then 4 year later or whenever that you get fruit - you can choose the best and use the rest for firewood.
God luck -- ENJOY!
