If all the referance points are controlled by the powers that be then how can you prove or deny what they tell you today is real or not ???
If on the other hand what you suggest is time fluctuation then consider this. If by your theory it is proved that there is indeed time fluctuations and these are therfore corrected or monitored, would these same time fluctuations be allowed by our future selfs knowing now what we do, and if this was the case, how could they ever be noticed in the first place and have to require them being stopped ?? |

Anonymous Coward 12/8/2005 10:12 AM | | Re: Another Timeline Oddity.... | Quote | ernest borgnine died: now heīs ALIVE
jack palance died: now heīs ALIVE
captain kangaroo died twice
katherine hepburn died twice
abe vigoda died a long time ago, heīs alive, but people mag. did erroneously report his death back in ī92, so that may explain it.
i remember when mickey rooney died, they made a big deal about it, but now heīs making commercials.
itīs a parallel timeline. |

Anonymous Coward 12/8/2005 10:12 AM | | Re: Another Timeline Oddity.... | Quote | i thought jack palance died during the filming of city slickers 2, now it says he is alive. i was SURE he died then. weird.
i saw those roonie commercials too, interesting they are for life insurance. |

AC 12/8/2005 10:12 AM | | Re: Another Timeline Oddity.... | Quote | Wasnīt Walter Cronkite another one? |
|
Anonymous Coward 12/8/2005 10:12 AM | | Re: Another Timeline Oddity.... | Quote | i spent a brief stint of time in a timeline where cronkite had died.
but the original one i come from, all these folks had died too.
ever hear of the one where jfk was not assasinated?
thatīs a doozie.
it was horrible, thermonuclear war by ī72.
go figure.
another one is where paul mccartney had died.
the worse ones are the ones where your parents are dead, then you jump and theyīre alive, or one of them is, itīs a mindf**k. |

Anonymous Coward 12/8/2005 10:12 AM | | Re: Another Timeline Oddity.... | Quote | Jack Palanceīs character, Curly, died in City Slickers or City Slickers 2. Maybe thatīs the confusion although I must admit I thought he was dead.
I donīt recall hearing Micky Rooney had died.
I do recall when I was a kid I heard the news on the radio that William Boyd who played Hopalong Cassidy had died which upset me a bit. But then several years later I heard the same news again. I know I didnīt make a mistake. |
|
Anonymous Coward 12/8/2005 10:12 AM | | Re: Another Timeline Oddity.... | Quote | wow, I thought it was just me. When I saw Mickey Rooney on a commercial recently, I thought "hey, didnīt he die a few years ago"? I was SURE that he had died, and remember thinking it was very odd, where did I get that from, but thought it was just a mistake on my part.
But Jack Palance too? I KNOW I watched something on CNN the day he īdiedī, I remember it clearly, and they showed clips from his movies, including City Slickers.
Canīt say I remember Katherine Hepburn dying twice though. Does anyone else have any other info on this, it is freaking me out now. |

Anonymous Coward 12/8/2005 10:12 AM | | Re: Another Timeline Oddity.... | Quote | Ok this is still AC 7:11 here, this is really making my brain hurt, this is very very strange to me.
I remember, without a doubt, hearing that Arthur C Clark had died, and I want to say in the last 1-2 years max--I remember seeing it in the news, and reading about it, and TALKING about it with friends, as we were all fans of his writing....and now, he is listed as not only alive but that he SURVIVED the recent tsunami that hit Sri Lanka
[link to phatnav.com]
Even as recently as the 12/26 tsunami coverage, OTHER people were ALSO referring to him as DEAD, because I remember reading online, that the tsunami destroyed right were he used to live, and if he was still alive, he would have most likely drowned there. and I remember talking about that point specifically, as a conversation point, when we were talking about the tsunami. What does anyone else remember?! |

Anonymous Coward 12/8/2005 10:12 AM | | Re: Another Timeline Oddity.... | Quote | I can tell you for osure jack palance died, donīt remember how many years ago. The reason I remember it is two fold. Number one he looked like my dad, so I really remember this and the second one, was I loved him in Baghdad cafe. And he DEFINITELY died. |
|
Anonymous Coward 12/8/2005 10:12 AM | | Re: Another Timeline Oddity.... | Quote | well, at least i found others like me who have jumped into this timeline. i was surprised at how many clearly remember palance dying, but there are always those who do not have that recollection, who are original to this line.
i think i jumped here back in late 2000. my dad was alive, then i jumped and he died, then 911 happened.
iīve always wanted to visit the gore timeline in which he won, but iīm not sure it would have been any better. we have lots of enemies, and i noticed this in alternate lines.
the one that really scared me is the line where two huge volcanic explosions out on the west coast changed the future of the united states. people migrated out of the west coast states, the economy took a nosedive, it was hard on everyone. i was living in florida in that timeline, and a huge tidal wave came and hit us, i saw it coming down the road, it was about 20 ft. high. it wasnīt good, then it stopped and i found myself about 10 years in the past.
another timeline in which i jumped, i woke up sitting in my chair watching tv, and the show was interrupted and pres. clinton came on and announced that north korea had invaded south korea and china was invading taiwan, so we declared war against them. the war lasted for years. there was a draft, and lots of anger and civil unrest against the war. it was a conventional war, and that is why we lost. the united states refused to go nuclear and we lost. it was horrible, but i supposed many more millions would have died if it had escalated to nuclear. i didnīt see an option though, and was surprised we never went all the way. this was back in an alternate 1996. there are other events, too much to relay here.
those are the noticeable changes of course. but i find that the best barometer is famous peopleīs obituaries. its easy to verify, although its tricky always relying on memory. |

Anonymous Coward 12/8/2005 10:12 AM | | Re: Another Timeline Oddity.... | Quote | iīm not saying that timeline shifts donīt happen, but a very reasonable explanation for your memory is that you remember when the previous CEO died in April, 2004. From the article:
" Bell was replaced as CEO by Jim Skinner, the Oak Brook, Ill.-based companyīs third CEO in a year. Bell was chosen to follow former chief James Cantalupo, who died of a heart attack in April 2004." |
