Quoting: anonymous coward#? 571992All regional dialect. Where I come from our dialect is influenced by Finish,English, and French. I usualy get mistaken for a Canadian when I speak. eh lol One way to get the most out of life is to look upon it as an adventure. William Feather |

Those 'U"s are not extra. The Canadians spell words correctly. In the US when many immigrants from foreign places could not spell properly, they started to write things the way they thought they heard them. Incidentally the dropping of the "U" by Americans subtly alters the pronunciation of words. In the US they are so happy dropping letters and changing spellings from the original English that they have reduced ALUMINIUM to ALUMINUM. LABOUR to LABOR, COLOUR to COLOR etc. It makes it a bitch of a problem for me, because my spell checker is in American English, and I write British English. |
