How bizarre, that link is "not found". /c Odd, I'll check the movie for 4/9/2010 and see if it shows up, I should have saved it but since it's happened a couple of times before I didn't bother. Tis a bit horny! |
Xenus User ID: 1066790 Australia 09/10/2010 09:15 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It's in the movie and the magnetosphere was really weird that day. As for today, density of the plasma in stationary orbit spiked off the charts, but wait, there are no CMEs or flares. Another anomalous spike. Approx 11:30 UT. Could that be done by some intelligent force? Quoting: Silverwing 462458When they are FLAt, the site is not recording data. Now, we are already in the Coronal Hole predicted for the 25th, and it arrived 2 days ago, where is everybody? I guess this really has died here. |

Well I think it has been forgotten, but also the sun is super quiet right now so nothing to talk about. Didn't you get banned Candace? I hope you learned how to behave. Little or no notable activity lately, even during the sun's little outbursts. |
Xenus User ID: 1066790 Australia 11/15/2010 11:35 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | [link to www2.nict.go.jp] These massive spikes are normal for when there is activity on the sun, yet no one has been able to explain the spikes during the non-active periods of the sun earlier last year and this year. Temperature drops and density spikes, same correlation each time. This is the plasma at geostationary orbit. |
Xenus User ID: 1066790 Australia 11/15/2010 11:47 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Oh also, sun activity seems to pick up every time a comet gets close to it and especially more so when it plunges into it. SUNDIVING COMET: The solar system has one less comet today after one of the dirty snowballs swung past the sun--a little too close--and did not survive. [link to spaceweather.com] And they still call them dirty snowballs despite this; [link to stardust.jpl.nasa.gov] "Our studies of the comet dust show that the organics are very rich in oxygen and nitrogen," Sandford said. "The data are not incompatible with some of it being in the PAHs, but we still have a lot to learn in this area." Although some of the other organics captured by the Stardust spacecraft look somewhat similar to the fairly stable organics found in meteorites, Sandford noted that many of the organic compounds appear to be very volatile. One sample even showed an abundance of material containing alcohols. [link to stardust.jpl.nasa.gov] <- way more info here. |

"We are experiencing an explosion of Northern Lights," reports Therese van Nieuwenhoven of the Polar Light Center in Lofoten, Norway. "Suddenly, our magnetometers began to show big activity and we could see the most beautiful and moving auroras. What a surprise!" [link to spaceweather.com] What a surprise indeed... Again no one seems to have ANY explanations to what causes these sudden magnetospheric disturbances. The CMEs from the sun were not Earth directed. |

Xenus User ID: 1066790 Australia 12/03/2010 06:01 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | [link to www2.nict.go.jp] Magnetosphere got hit today, interesting thing is that it was a very quick burst of energy at 10:13:57 UT, which made the plasma at geostationary orbit spike in density and drop in temperature. Usually it's the other way around, spike in temperature and a drop in density. |
