??? Whats up with this graph? must be a glitch right? [ link to www2.nict.go.jp] That's really weird, the density surely did spike. When the temp dropped that's when the spike of plasma density rose. Not sure if that's an error with the satellite caused by cosmic rays or something or if that is indeed the real measurements. It did it yesterday evening as well, and that time there was a corresponding hit to the simulated magnetosphere. I'm voting for cosmic rays... never saw the density graph look like that before! The spike happened but it also seems to have caused the ACE satellite to stop sensing/sending data for a period of time. You can tell by the flat lined magnetogram. There are always fluctuations, if there are none it means the data isn't there. I know what you are saying, the AL?AU meters seem to have pegged out...but that density spike is perfectly offset with a temperature drop, which is the standard reaction to something hitting the magnetosphere....when the density waves hit there is always a corresponding drop in temp...so THAT graph is responding correctly it seems...
