My hypothesis is similar with a few exceptions.

I took the meeting as still having to happen in order for the leaders of faith to come to an agreement to end war.

(I am not positive that Leaders of Faith is inclusive of the religions as Op stated that the nations rulers listen to them. In some cases they may be advisers as they have the faith of the advised but of a religion that has yet to be represented by others.)

I also took the tree to possibly be the tree of life.

I believe the Owl Tree is a symbol for the a search for or attainment of knowledge (looking for more references).
