not just regular human food either, she has recently started storing her dog food in all corner of the house and yard.
Is my dog sensing some shortage of food soon and making the necessary preparations?

Foxes do it when they see a good opportunity to catch a meal, but they aren't hungry at the time, so they save it for later by burying the food underground so that other animals won't get it. Dogs don't have dirt to bury it under when inside the house, so they use blankets, rugs, toys, and anything else that is movable to cover it up.
